NXP Semiconductors enables secure connections and infrastructure for a smarter world, advancing solutions that make lives easier, better and safer. As the world leader in secure connectivity solutions for embedded applications, we are driving innovation in the secure connected vehicle, end-to-end security & privacy and smart connected solutions markets.

Within our Automotive Microcontroller and Processor R&D organization, we are expanding our EMC competency and are looking for a Senior EMC Engineer to strengthen our development team in Munich.

In this role, you will act as a technical authority for EMC, ensuring robust, compliant and customer-ready Automotive MCU/MPU solutions—from early design phases through validation and customer support. You will be responsible for ensuring that our electronic devices comply with electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) regulations and standards. You will work closely with our team of engineers in the lab, conduct various measurements, develop test plans, and implement effective solutions to mitigate EMC issues.

This role is well suited for an experienced EMC engineer who, over time, is motivated to take on broader technical responsibility and gradually grow into a technical and/or team-leading role, depending on business needs, performance and personal development interests.

Your Responsibilities: EMC Testing & Validation

  • Plan, conduct and analyze EMC measurements IC, board and system level in accordance with international and automotive-specific standards.
  • Define and execute pre-compliance and compliance test strategies to identify risks early in the development cycle.
  • Support failure analysis and root-cause investigation of EMC issues during validation or reported by customers.

Design Support & Technical Leadership

  • Actively influence chip, package, PCB and system-level design decisions to achieve EMC robustness.
  • Collaborate closely with design, layout, package, safety and application engineering teams.
  • Provide expert recommendations on filtering, grounding, shielding and layout concepts.
  • Gradually take on mentoring and technical guidance responsibilities within the EMC domain, supporting knowledge transfer and best-practice adoption in the team.

Expert & Stakeholder Role

  • Serve as EMC expert for internal teams and as a technical interface to automotive customers, OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers when needed.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of EMC methodologies, guidelines and best practices within NXP.
  • Stay current on emerging EMC standards, test methods and automotive requirements.
  • Support the development of EMC competency within the organization by sharing expertise and shaping future ways of working.

Your Profile:

  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Several years of hands-on EMC experience, ideally in automotive electronics or semiconductors.
  • Experience in conducting a variety of EMC tests, such as radiated and conducted emissions, susceptibility, and immunity tests.
  • Hands-on experience in troubleshooting EMC issues and implementing effective solutions.
  • Proficiency in using EMC test equipment, measurement tools, and software.
  • Strong understanding of EMC principles, standards, regulations, and testing procedures.
  • Good understanding of semiconductor devices and their interaction with electromagnetic fields.
  • Familiarity with common EMC standards and regulations, such as IEC 61000 series, CISPR, FCC, and CE.
  • Experience with EMC simulations and modeling tools is a plus.
  • Prior experience in a laboratory or manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present technical information effectively.
  • Interest in long-term technical ownership and the willingness to grow responsibilities beyond individual contribution over time.
  • Detail-oriented and capable of working independently and in a team environment.
  • Fluent in English, German is beneficial.

Join our team as a senior EMC Engineer and contribute to the development of cutting-edge Automotive MCU’s/MPU’s that meet EMC compliance requirements and exceed customer expectations.

Please note: The successful candidate may/will be responsible for security related tasks. The assignment may/will be in scope of security certifications, therefore a conscious and reliable way of working is necessary.
