About the Team:

The Python Open Source team maintains and evolves the core Lang Chain Python ecosystem used by millions of developers worldwide. We focus on building reliable, well-designed abstractions for developing AI agents and integrating them with real-world tools and systems. The team works closely with the open-source community, incorporating feedback and contributions while ensuring the core libraries remain stable, scalable, and production-ready. Our work defines the developer experience for building AI applications with Python.

About the role:

In person 5 days/week in San Francisco, CA or Boston, MA (SF preferred)

We’re looking to add a core maintainer to the Lang Chain team. This person would be responsible for maintaining and improving the Lang Chain Python package.

• Improving the core abstractions and runtime of the langchain and langgraph packages

• Improving documentation https://python.langchain.com/docs/integrations/providers/

• Answering user questions and resolving issues

• Use langchain to build example applications

What You'll Do:

• Improve the core abstractions and runtime of the Lang Chain and Lang Graph packages

• Improve documentation across the Lang Chain ecosystem

• Answer user questions and resolve issues from the community

• Use Lang Chain to build example applications that demonstrate how to build production AI systems

What You'll Bring:

• 5+ years of software engineering or applied machine learning experience

• Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

• The ability to thrive in a fast-moving environment and view unstructured environments as an opportunity to identify impactful work and define the future success of the company

• An ownership-minded approach to work, with the ability to manage your work efficiently and effectively without the need for close supervision

Compensation & Benefits:

• We offer competitive compensation that includes base salary, meaningful equity, and benefits such as health and dental coverage, flexible vacation, a 401(k) plan, and life insurance. Actual compensation will vary based on role, level, and location. For team members in the EU and UK, we provide locally competitive benefits aligned with regional norms and regulations.

• Annual salary range: $160,000- $225,000
