Mill Utility

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and in accordance with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), we have implemented a number of safety precautions at all of our locations to protect our employees. Position Overview: Within General Mills, our manufacturing facilities are committed to achieving zero human and food safety incidents and it is every employee’s responsibility to fully support this vision. Mill Utilities are hired as members of the Milling team. They are responsible for the safe operation and cleanliness in the Milling department. The General Mills-Avon plant operates 24 hours per day 7 days per week. Changes in volume and production requirements can result in changes in work schedule and additional overtime. Mill Utility must be willing to work any shift including nights and weekends and seven days a week. The starting wage for the Mill Utility position is $20.95/Hr (1st shift), $21.29/Hr (2nd shift) and $21.36/Hr (3rd shift). Additionally, we offer a comprehensive benefits package including: Health, dental & vision Pay rate increase this December Eligible for bi-annual 6% target performance based bonus Retirement pension 401k Main Responsibilities: Follows all safety guidelines in the department including proper use of PPE and lockout procedures Responsible for sweeping floors, brushing equipment, blowing down overheads with an air hose, scrubbing, shoveling and vacuuming in the all areas of the mill facility. Maintains the processing-related areas in an organized and sanitary manner within FDA GMP guidelines; performs routine cleaning activities of all processing areas. Performs other tasks and assists other functional areas of the department as needed and required. This position is responsible to fulfil the Assistant Miller role as needed. This requires the ability to run a cleaning house system. Physical activities include sweeping, shoveling, vacuuming, lifting/opening/dumping a minimum of 50# containers, climbing ladders and stairs, reaching/pulling/scooping, maneuvering roll stand rolls, etc. Minimum Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age or older Must have the ongoing right to work in the U.S. without sponsorship High School Diploma or GED 1 or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment Effective written and oral communication skills Proficiency in basic computer skills Must be able to lift, move, push, pull 50 lbs as required by the position Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including: standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, squatting, pulling and twisting over surfaces Ability to climb and/or work at heights while utilizing stairs, ladders, personnel lifts, or platforms Willing and able to work any shift schedule, including nights and weekends, including daily overtime and overtime outside of regular scheduled hours as required (more than 40 hours per week) Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment such as safety shoes, face masks, safety glasses, hearing protection, a hard hat, a hair/beard net and gloves when required Willing and able to adhere to all grooming requirements necessary for a food manufacturing environment Willing to work around industrial high speed moving machinery Ability to work in confined space such as bins, silos, or tanks Ability to work with allergens that might be present in a food environment COMPANY OVERVIEW We exist to make food the world loves.
