The Senior Manager, U.S. International Tax will play a critical role in the development of our U.S. tax planning strategy. This leader will partner to influence and support key business decisions across the enterprise. In addition, the Senior Manager, U.S. International Tax will influence transactional matters and represent General Mills’ interests in connection with tax audit matters globally. In the US International Tax Senior Manager role, you will manage all aspects of US international tax planning and compliance. This role requires you to navigate complexity of US international tax rules as they relate to General Mills’ legal entity structure. This role will offer an outstanding opportunity to develop core capabilities around data-driven decision making, financial acumen, risk management, situational agility and partnership for impact. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Functional Responsibilities Lead, identify, manage, and maintain US international tax planning in close coordination with other tax teams, as well as business and functional teams Manage US international tax provision and compliance requirements, as well as US international tax budget Manage US international tax process improvement, including the design and implementation of tax technology initiatives, and controversy management Remain current on international tax and US international tax environment and issues, lead reviewing and interpreting tax code and regulations and assess impacts on General Mills Provide technical tax accounting advice on various US international tax accounting issues Manage the review of certain US international tax forms and required statements Management Responsibilities Manage and supervise US international tax team Collaborate with senior manager peers to drive team initiatives and tax projects Support Global Tax Director in all international tax and US international tax activities Direct the work of external vendors that assist in tax work Cross Functional Responsibilities Partner with local and HQ business and functional leadership regarding all US international tax planning and compliance activities Identify the information necessary from finance and business operations for tax planning, and work to supporting tax data flows Collaborate with transfer pricing team to understand intercompany transactions and data to be used in planning Collaborate with legal to support the preparation of board meetings specific to the local country substance and to maintain quarterly organizational charts Partner with various stakeholders across the business to stay apprised of business priorities and use that knowledge to identify planning opportunities and risk mitigation strategies Interact with external parties such as auditors, consultants, and tax compliance advisors Partner with global and regional business units and sector teams when appropriate to complete tax audits and appeals MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in tax, accounting, finance, economics, or related fields 5 – 8 years minimum tax experience with heavy emphasis on US international tax and international tax A broad understanding of international tax and US international tax concepts Strong ability to partner with local and HQ business and functional leadership Strong stakeholder management skills with ability to communicate complex tax technical topics to non-tax stakeholders, as well as work effectively with external accountants, attorneys, and tax auditors Strong project management and communication skills Ability to use own judgment and initiative in problem resolution Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office Fluency in local language required PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Advanced degree (MBA, MBT, JD, etc.) in tax, accounting, finance, or related fields 8 + years relevant tax experience with heavy emphasis on US international tax and international tax, 3+ years of direct management experience preferred Proficiency in Alteryx, Power BI, or other data transformation software Experience in consumer foods industry preferred COMPANY OVERVIEW We exist to make food the world loves.
