Maintenance Mechanic Apprentice

• Belvidere IL plant operates 24 hours per day 7 days per week. Changes in volume and production requirements can result in changes in work schedule and additional overtime. Maintenance Mechanic Apprentices must be willing to work any shift including nights and weekends. Schedules: CREW L – NIGHT SHIFT 6:00PM – 6:00AM: 5 on, 3 off, 2 on, 5 off, 4 on, 2 off, 3 on, 4 off CREW M – NIGHT SHIFT 6:00PM – 6:00AM: 5 on, 3 off, 2 on, 5 off, 4 on, 2 off, 3 on, 4 off Main Responsibilities In this role, you will: Follow all company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment Successfully complete apprenticeship program training requirements in appropriate length of time, including but not limited to Amatrol training modules Successfully complete necessary training to upgrade skills pertaining to effective maintenance of equipment and systems Maintain, and repair manufacturing equipment including preventative, predictive, overhaul and corrective maintenance Set up, troubleshoot, adjust and operate assigned equipment Correctly and effectively complete all required maintenance documentation Schedule repair work, identify and requisition parts, document repair history for equipment including labor, materials and outside maintenance services Understand and utilize Maximo maintenance management system Perform basic sheet metal layout and fabrication Ability to demonstrate: Thorough understanding of pneumatic, hydraulic and electric systems including schematics and symbols Understanding and use of lubrication including schedules and types of lubricants used Use of a multimeter to perform troubleshooting of electric circuits, components, drives and motors Proper use of hand and power tools Basic skill with shop equipment including grinder, drill press, hydraulic press, metal cutoff saw, bandsaw and electric hoist Safe work practices ensuring safety of personnel and safe operation of equipment Contribute to continuous improvement results by suggesting line and equipment performance improvement ideas Assist with training new employees as needed Attend meetings and trainings as required Perform additional related tasks as assigned Minimum Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age or older Must have the ongoing right to work in the U.S. without sponsorship High School Diploma or GED Basic mechanical and electrical knowledge Mechanical, math, troubleshooting and problem-solving and basic computer skills Effective written and oral communication skills Proficiency in basic computer skills Must be able to lift, move, push, pull 55 lbs on a regular basis Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time, including: standing, walking, climbing, bending, squatting, pushing, pulling and twisting over surfaces Willing and able to work any shift schedule, including nights and weekends, daily overtime or overtime outside of your regular scheduled hours as required (more than 40 hours per week) Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment such as safety shoes, face masks, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat/bump cap, hair/beard net and gloves when required Ability to work in hot, cold, noisy, dusty, wet environmental working conditions Ability to climb and/or work at heights while utilizing stairs, ladders, personnel lifts, or platforms Ability to work with allergens that might be present in a food environment Ability to work around industrial high-speed moving machinery Willing and able to adhere to all grooming requirements necessary for a food manufacturing environment Preferred Qualifications: 6 months of experience in a manufacturing maintenance environment preferred, not required Past Maintenance work experience Demonstrated leadership ability COMPANY OVERVIEW We exist to make food the world loves.
