Health, Safety and Environmental Manger

OVERVIEW The Health, Safety and Environmental Manger for the Flour Mills is a multi-site role covering the Milling Network in Kansas City, MO; Avon, IA; Great Falls, MT; and Vernon, CA. This role will allow you to collaborate with the various sites to set Safety, Environment and Health standards for the network, achieve plant safety goals, partner with plant operations to support business results and the plant mission, analyze metrics and reporting, and provide safety insights. You will have safety and environment responsibility for the Milling network and will provide safety leadership in each location. General Mills was founded on Flour Milling and is our heritage and cornerstone of our corporation. The Flour Mills are part of the Convenience and Foodservice network producing Gold Medal flour, Bisquick and Betty Crocker mixes in unionized facilities. This position work out of our Kansas City, MO Mill. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Ensure effective Safety, Environment and Health Management for each location Responsible for the execution and monitoring of the annual safety, environment and health programs Monitoring safety and environment performance and develop plans to close any gaps to plant targets. Supporting site delivery of annual safety, environment, and health targets. Ensure effective controls are in place Ensuring safety and environmental compliance with all company policies and support the initiatives of each location Maintaining audit ready status of internal controls through periodic review and self-audit. Plant Leadership Team Responsibilities Collaborate as a strong voice on the Plant Leadership Teams (PLT) Lead the sites Health Safety Environment (HSE) Pillar to develop HSE processes and build capability in site HSE system owners Support development and execution of site strategies, including Zero Loss Culture transformation Provide support and leadership on cross functional plant and corporate initiatives Drive a world class safety culture and behaviors with employees across the facilities Partner with Corporate HSE team to share learnings and implement safety programs, best practices, policies, and procedures Develop and implement safety leadership programs designed to achieve an injury-free workplace MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s Degree 4+ years of related experience Ability to travel up to 50% Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to work well on teams and build effective relationships across all levels of the organization (Partnership for Impact) and coach/develop others Demonstrated coaching effectiveness and ability to inspire change and develop coaching capability in others Demonstrated success in influencing and developing capability across all levels of the organization PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 7+ years of related experience Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment Experience working in a safety role within manufacturing Experience with leading teams Experience in food manufacturing Proven analytical and strategic skills Highly motivated self-starter with strong organization and prioritization skills Assertive, self-confident, and willing to offer opinions and insights Initiative and ability to work independently and to effectively work with a team Ability to influence, develop, and motivate peers Desire to work cross functionally with all plant functions Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities COMPANY OVERVIEW
