- Overview We are seeking a full-time Senior Design Engineer
- Marine at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area.
In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and project planning for complex analog, digital, and/or RF designs for products that are new for Garmin.
Essential Functions Serves in leadership capacity for carrying out complex design and development of analog, digital or RF designs for products that involve complicated schematics and PCB design consisting of one or more PCB’s May serve as a Project Engineer on new projects that involve a new design or major changes to an existing design Teams with Production and Engineering to design the best PCB solutions accounting for thermal and space constraints and to turn on new processors along with ensuring robust designs and appropriate testability Collaborates and adds value through participation in design reviews Offers process improvement suggestions, authors new procedures, and provides technical input to product development plans and concept documents along with making substantial contributions toward determination of project goal/objective feasibility Plans and develops experimental test programs to verify compliance to all applicable regulations and quality guidelines using software tools and test equipment Analyzes test data and reports to determine if the proposed design meets functional and performance specifications and to determine if applicable to developing other systems Interfaces with the Test Engineers and factory personnel on the testing and production of products and support production facilities in the manufacture of products and directs and coordinates manufacture of prototype Investigates, researches and evaluates the usage of the latest components and technologies and performs cost/performance tradeoff analysis of different circuit options Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering AND a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills Demonstrated proficiency with a complicated schematic and PCB design consisting of one or more PCB’s Broad technical knowledge and skills in one or more areas of Electrical Engineering (e.g., analog, digital, RF, and/or DSP) Desired Qualifications Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5) Extensive circuit design experience for consumer products Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
