Product Engineer at Ciena

Ciena is seeking a Product Engineer to join the Site Engineering Operations group within the Optical Components organization. This role is critical to transferring new optoelectronic products into high-volume manufacturing and sustaining production performance in partnership with design, NPI, and contract manufacturing teams. The position is based on-site at Ciena’s contract manufacturing partner in the Chonburi area and directly impacts product quality, yield, and time-to-market.

How you will make an impact:

• Lead new product transfer activities from development into contract manufacturing and sustain products through mass production

• Perform first-line failure analysis and develop fault-finding algorithms for contract manufacturer engineers

• Define and implement production process and test requirements in collaboration with R&D, NPI, and Test Engineering teams

• Develop and deliver training programs for manufacturing operators and engineers

• Monitor and manage product yield, capacity versus forecast, and performance against production targets

• Drive root cause analysis for field RMAs and significant device failure modes and implement corrective actions

• Lead process improvements, minor ECOs/PCNs, cost reduction initiatives, and second-source qualification activities

The must haves:

• Education:

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline

• Experience:

5+ years of product experience in the design, manufacture, or test of optoelectronic products

• Application of optoelectronic device principles including lasers, modulators, detectors, optical sub-assemblies, and transceivers

• Background in production processes for manufacturing optoelectronic devices

• Demonstrated delivery of complex optoelectronic module products into production environments

• Utilization of product lifecycle management practices

• Execution of technical problem solving in high-pressure manufacturing environments, both locally and remotely

• Collaboration with multi-functional, multi-site engineering and manufacturing teams

• Written and verbal communication in English and Thai

• Use of computer-based analytical tools, database management, and data analysis methods

Nice to haves:

• Experience managing automated test analysis tools and manufacturing KPIs

• Exposure to BOM management for products in mass production

• Participation in PFMEA review and update activities

• Experience managing supplier non-conformance and procurement specification alignment
