Cal Heart is seeking a part-time research intern to support a new research initiative focused on the genetic basis of dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), led by Dr. Evan Kransdorf. The project, funded through Cedars Tech Ventures, will generate induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) lines from patients with various DCM genotypes. This is a strategically important research effort with strong scientific and translational potential. This internship will focus on prospective clinical and laboratory research, providing the dedicated support needed to move the DCM genetics program forward.

Through this role, the intern will gain hands-on experience in both prospective and retrospective clinical research through the Cal Heart team, along with exposure to specialized iPSC and biomanufacturing methodologies via collaboration with the Biomanufacturing team. They will also receive mentorship from Dr. Evan Kransdorf and the broader Cal Heart research team.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support participant identification and recruitment for the DCM genetics study.
  • Assist with data collection and management.
  • Support regulatory submissions and other study-related administrative activities.
  • Coordinate with internal and external research collaborators, including the Biomanufacturing team.
  • Perform other project-specific tasks needed to support study milestones.
