Overview

The senior manager of Operations at Walt Disney Attractions Japan (WDAJ) serves as consultant, subject matter expert, brand manager and business liaison with Oriental Land Company (OLC) on various operational matters related to the 2 Parks and Disney hotels at Tokyo Disney Resort (TDR). This role particularly has responsibility to oversee the safety and security of Tokyo Disney Resort, and works closely with The Walt Disney Company (TWDC) Global Security team , local and international security industry partners, Japanese and U.S. law enforcement/government partners and, multiple OLC Security teams. Other areas of responsibility include Custodial, Main Entrance/Parking, Guest Relations and the Maihama Resort Line.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Global Security representative and Crisis Management administrator for WDAJ
  • Partner with U.S. government representatives in Japan and local security and law enforcement agencies and consult on implementation of any plans and practices that ensure the safety and security of TDR
  • Develop, review and support execution of global security initiatives at WDAJ and Walt Disney Imagineering Japan (WDIJ)
  • Proactively identify, develop and implement necessary workstreams and projects to support the security of TDR
  • Observe and share best practices across multiple locations and suggest operational improvements utilizing critical thinking and strategic decision-making skills.
  • Lead operational rollout of key initiatives within Tokyo Disney Resort, ensuring seamless integration and execution
  • Engage with Disney partners to contribute to standards development and ensure their effective execution and implementation with OLC
  • Lead and develop local security team and Cast Members and raising capabilities of direct reports by demonstrating excellent leadership skills and supporting their development
  • Recognize current local needs and apply successful comparable learnings from the theme park segment and industry
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with OLC partners, internal Disney partner and external partners

Requirements (Knowledge and Skills):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management or related field. Master’s degree preferred
  • 5 years of experience in operations management within attractions or hospitality industry
  • Proven track record of strategic development and prioritization skills
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, critical thinking and strategy development skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and stakeholders
  • Able to work and excel in a flexible work environment including working a variety of shifts, weekends and holidays

Preferred Requirements:

  • Bilingual ability in both English and Japanese (verbal and written)
  • Experience working in a global environment, preferably with exposure to Japanese business culture
  • Knowledge of Disney standards and best practices

Note: This role may include relocation benefits if the successful candidate is not already based in Tokyo
