What to Expect

Consider before submitting an application:

This position is expected to start January 2027 and continue through Winter/Spring term (ending approximately May 2027) or continuing into Summer 2027 if available and there is an opportunity to do so. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time (40 hours/week) and on-site, for most internships. Our internship program is for students who are actively enrolled in an academic program. Recent graduates seeking employment after graduation and not returning to school should apply for full-time positions, not internships.

International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week on-site. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.

At Tesla, we're accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy. Our Service Tooling team is at the forefront of this mission, designing and developing the innovative tools and equipment our technicians use to service and maintain our cutting-edge vehicles, including the revolutionary Tesla Robotaxi. What You’ll Bring

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
  • Experience with 3D CAD software (e.g., CATIA, Solid Works, Fusion 360) through coursework or personal projects
  • A strong desire to learn and a hands-on approach to problem-solving
  • Excellent problem-solving skills rooted in first principles thinking
  • A foundational understanding of common manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, welding, 3D printing)
  • Previous internship experience or involvement in student engineering teams (e.g., Formula SAE, Baja SAE, Robotics) preferred
  • A strong interest in automation, robotics, or electric vehicles preferred
  • Exposure to electronics or software development preferred
  • Familiarity with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles preferred
