What to Expect

Tesla is seeking a skilled Wire Harness Technician to support production assembly of high-reliability wire harnesses and discrete wire assemblies. This role requires hands-on expertise in interconnect systems, connectors, soldering, schematic interpretation, and troubleshooting to deliver quality assemblies that meet engineering and reliability standards.

What You’ll Do

  • Display a positive attitude and practice a strong work ethic that reflects the mission, philosophy, and goals of Tesla
  • Assemble, inspect, and process discrete wire assemblies, wire interconnects, and connectors in accordance with drawings, schematics, BOMs, and work instructions in a production environment
  • Install and operate data acquisition equipment and other instrumentation to support accurate test setup and wiring
  • Interpret connector pin-outs, electrical schematics, and CAD drawings to support accurate test setup, wiring, and issue diagnosis
  • Record, analyze, and document test data; report issues found during troubleshooting and work closely with Process, Product, and Design Engineering for feedback and resolution
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting on interconnect setups, wiring, connectors, and related systems using diagnostic tools, multimeters, testers, visual inspection, and schematics
  • Support the development of troubleshooting plans and methods to ensure reliability, structural, and engineering targets are met, while assisting with additional projects as business needs evolve

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven hands-on experience assembling discrete wire harnesses, interconnects, and connectors in a production setting, including soldering of wires, terminals, and through-hole/SMT components; prior experience in automotive, aerospace, or high-volume electronics manufacturing environments is strongly preferred
  • Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, connector pin-outs, wiring diagrams, and CAD drawings, with familiarity with basic CAD viewing tools
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills for wiring, connector, and harness issues using multimeters, testers, and visual inspection
  • Knowledge of or certification in IPC J-STD standards (e.g., IPC-J-STD-001 for soldering) and/or IPC/WHMA-A-620 for cable and wire harness assemblies is preferred
  • Familiarity with production documentation, quality systems, and lean manufacturing principles
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, follow documented procedures, meet production rates, and maintain quality, safety, and ESD standards
  • Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering and production teams to support continuous improvement
