What to Expect

Tesla is seeking a skilled and highly-motivated Electrical/Electronics Design Engineer to join our Connectivity team to work on next-gen self-driving vehicles. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of microcontroller-based system design, power management, and high-speed digital interfaces, coupled with expertise in developing vehicle electronic platforms. Candidates must excel at defining, specifying, and establishing requirements for cutting-edge automotive electronic solutions. The successful applicant will thrive in a fast-paced, challenging environment, embracing exceptional opportunities for professional growth and remarkable achievements.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and optimize power delivery systems including buck/boost converters, LDOs, PMICs, and power sequencing for multi-rail embedded platforms

  • Perform schematic capture and PCB layout design, optimizing for electrical performance, thermal management, manufacturing constraints, and cost

  • Conduct board bring-up, validation, troubleshooting, system integration, manufacturing test support, and field return failure analysis

  • Drive firmware/hardware co-design and embedded systems integration during bring-up and validation phases

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams from concept design through full design cycles

  • Transition the electrical system design, including power management, microcontroller, and communication interfaces to high-volume production

  • Work with and manage suppliers and manufacturing partners including overseas build support

What You’ll Bring

  • Degree in Electronics Engineering with 5+ years of relevant work experience in digital/analog electronic designs (minimum 3+ years), or equivalent experience
  • Hands-on experience in prototype bring-up, debugging, validation, and manufacturing support; proficient with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, frequency generators, and other bench instrumentation
  • Experience with digital and memory interfaces (UART, CAN, SPI, I2C, USB, JTAG, Ethernet, PCIe, SDIO, LPDDR3/4, etc.), and signal integrity analysis
  • Proficiency with PCB design tool such as Altium or Cadence
  • Experience with power supply design including DC-DC converters (buck, boost, buck-boost), LDOs, power sequencing, thermal derating, and load transient analysis
  • Familiarity with PCB stack-up, SMT process, in-circuit tests, manufacturing tests and designing for DFM/DFT
  • Problem solver with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with ARM-based processors, SoC/ASIC integration, high-speed PCB design, or mixed-signal systems is a plus
  • Experience with wireless (LTE/Wi Fi/BT/GNSS) product or system development is a plus
