What To Expect
Tesla's mission is to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy. Residential energy products are a critical component of this mission enabling customers to generate, store, and consume sustainable energy to power their lives. Energy at Tesla is a rapidly growing part of the overall business with hardware products like Powerwall, Wall Connector, and Powershare as well as software products such as Tesla Electric and Virtual Power Plants, all providing a seamless clean energy experience for customers. We are seeking someone who is hardworking and passionate about solving the climate problem. In this role you’ll be expected to leverage your thorough electrical, mechanical, and software engineering understanding, as well as knowledge of the global home energy market to drive our product launches.

You will be a part of the Product team responsible for the success of Tesla’s residential energy product line. This is a cross-functional role that requires coordination between many different groups within and outside of Tesla. You’ll be required to wear many hats, collaborating across teams such as design engineering, software/firmware, compliance, reliability, demand planning, sales, marketing, and field installation, as well as communicating with our B2B customers to ensure successful operationalization of new products and features, maximizing our impact on the energy transition.

Success in this role requires an excellent technical foundation to understand the hardware/software products we are deploying in the physical world. In parallel, you must have a strong desire and proven ability of being an effective leader who surfaces key issues early in a product launch lifecycle, offers strategic solutions, and drives action across the organization.

What You'll Do

  • Define and execute a winning Go-To-Market plan for new energy products, features, and services
  • Work with cross functional stakeholders and customers to surface requirements, dependencies, and priorities
  • Drive action & accountability from cross functional groups to execute launch plans on schedule
  • Anticipate risks to the launch and find solutions to mitigate them, escalating when needed
  • Effectively scope, drive, and launch existing product/process change initiatives
  • Report to leadership on launch status, driving critical issues and strategic recommendations

  • What You'll Bring

  • Direct experience in the introduction of new hardware products and software features
  • Direct experience in making a cross-functional change happen within an international organization
  • Direct experience and comfortability interfacing with external customers and senior leaders
  • Familiarity with solar, energy storage, charging, general electrical concepts, and home construction a strong plus
  • Effective communication and exceptional interpersonal skills
  • A relentless drive to make things happen
  • Comfort in pushing the boundary of what’s possible and not accepting the status quo
  • Ability to operate independently to solve complex, ambiguous product/operational problems
  • Experience and comfort working with large datasets to drive decision making
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage simultaneous projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or technical discipline
  • Proficiency in English a must; Japanese, Mandarin, or Korean, is a plus
