POSITION SUMMARY:
The Commercial Manager, Chemicals is a leadership role responsible for setting strategic direction and driving execution across the Chemicals portfolio, spanning self-manufactured and private label products across all key market segments.
While providing overall leadership, the role also holds direct responsibility for product management of the portfolio, alongside sales leadership and active involvement in developing and winning key customer opportunities.
Leading a small team of Product Specialists, the Commercial Manager works cross-functionally with marketing, strategic partnerships and channel teams, operations and supply chain, regional commercial teams, and key supplier partners. The role integrates portfolio strategy with commercial excellence to expand market presence, drive share gain, and deliver against financial and strategic targets.
This role will spend approximately 30% of time in field.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Tertiary qualifications in science, with domain expertise in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline. Formal business qualifications preferred.
- 3+ years of proven experience in portfolio leadership, product management or sales management/team leadership experience.
- Strong understanding of laboratory, research, bio-pharma or industrial markets
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with proven track record of developing successful teams
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
- Demonstrated success in strategic planning, forecasting and achieving revenue targets
- Proficiency with CRM systems (particularly Salesforce) and MS Office suite
- Ability to build and maintain strong customer and key stakeholder relationships
- Business acumen with strong analytical and decision-making capabilities
- Travel required up to 30%
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a matrix organization
- Track record of commercial success and continuous improvement
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to work effectively at all levels
