Tesla is looking to hire a Manufacturing Engineer to contribute to the development of electrical interconnection processes for our cutting-edge battery products. In this role you will drive technological advancement in this discipline as part of a small, specialized team. Battery development is at the heart of our company, and this is an exciting opportunity to work directly on the central challenges with electric vehicles – battery cost and performance. Tesla is a demanding and fast-paced environment where you will work with a highly motivated team on extremely challenging projects.

What You’ll Do

• Design electrical interconnection processes & equipment such as laser welding
• Provide interconnect Design for Manufacturability (DFM) & Reliability (DFR) input to product designers
• Validate and optimize processes from early prototype builds through full volume production
• Drive proof-of-concept to green light new and novel methods, technologies, and suppliers
• Evolve the electrical interconnection knowledge base through experimentation & benchmarking

What You’ll Bring

• 3+ years of engineering or equivalent relevant experience
• Experience developing and implementing electrical interconnect processes and equipment in high-volume production (laser welding, ultrasonic wire bonding, ultrasonic welding, soldering)
• Proficiency in geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T) and experimental design
• Capability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally
• Degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials, or equivalent experience
