Medical Assistant - Vein Clinic - Carmel Valley

This is a full-time, benefitted position generally working Monday through Friday from 8: 00am to 4:30pm or 7:45am to 4:15pm, with hours varying as needed. The position is located at Scripps Clinic Carmel Valley and may require support at other Surgical Specialties locations as needed to support patient care. This position includes both front office (clerical) and back office (clinical) Medical Assistant job duties.Why join Scripps Health?

What you'll do:

• Rooming patients
• Checking vitals
• Assisting with procedures
• Clinic prep assisting with Provider specific protocols
• Predominantly back-office responsibilities but is expected to help with front-office duties on an as-needed basis
• Maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment
• Organizes and performs patient care services that support the provider's practice
• Relaying instructions from the provider to the patient or authorized person
• Collecting patient data in person and by phone
• Documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's review
• Administering medications specifically directed by the provider
• Scheduling of appointments and procedures
• Complete and accurate message taking
• Routing messages to the appropriate area for direction
• Order and referral entry
• Acquisition of pre-certifications
• Setting up of cases in EPIC
• Basic registration and updating of demographics
• Other duties assigned as needed

Requirements:

• Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program, or Medical Assistance Certification, or a minimum of two years of experience as a military corpsman
• BLS required in clinical setting for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA)

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:

• One year of experience as a MA in an outpatient setting preferred
• Experience working as a MA in any of these specialties: Vein Clinic, Dermatology, Urgent Care Center, Scripps Health Express, Family Medicine

Position Pay Range: $25.95-$32.56/hour
