About the role

We help the world run better
At SAP, we keep it simple: you bring your best to us, and we'll bring out the best in you. We're builders touching over 20 industries and 80% of global commerce, and we need your unique talents to help shape what's next. The work is challenging – but it matters. You'll find a place where you can be yourself, prioritize your wellbeing, and truly belong. What's in it for you? Constant learning, skill growth, great benefits, and a team that wants you to grow and succeed.

What you'll build

API Composition is a cornerstone capability of SAP Integration Suite's API Management solution. It enables developers to access semantically connected, integrated business APIs through a single unified graph of entities — transforming fragmented enterprise API landscapes into coherent, AI-ready experiences. As complexity in enterprise landscapes keeps growing, API Composition reduces the cost and effort of building extensions and client applications by providing one powerful, unified API spanning the SAP ecosystem and beyond.

As a (Senior) Developer, you will:

  • Shape the foundation of agentic API consumption - enabling AI agents to discover, navigate, and interact with unified enterprise APIs through MCP and related protocols.
  • Design, develop, and maintain the API Composition that transforms siloed API access into semantically connected, unified experiences served via GraphQL and OData v4.
  • Implement, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation using GitHub, Jenkins, Kubernetes, and ArgoCD.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape our API technologies as part of SAP Integration Suite and API Management.
  • Optimize API performance for scalability, reliability, and cloud-native operation.

What you bring

We're looking for a passionate and skilled (Senior) Developer who brings:

  • University degree in computer science or a related field.
  • 4+ years of professional software engineering experience; 6+ years is a plus.
  • Strong programming skills in TypeScript and/or Golang; solid engineering fundamentals including design patterns, version control, testing, and code reviews. AI-assisted development experience is a plus.
  • Experience building or consuming AI agents using tool calls, MCP servers, or agentic orchestration patterns.
  • Proficiency with CI/CD platforms and tools — in particular GitHub, Jenkins, Kubernetes, and ArgoCD.
  • Hands-on experience building or consuming APIs using GraphQL, OData, REST, or similar protocols.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills; fluency in English.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with SAP Integration Suite, API Management, or SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP).
  • Experience with OData v4 or SAP-specific protocols (BAPI, RFC).
  • Knowledge of service mesh technologies or advanced Kubernetes deployment patterns.

Meet your team

We're an international, diverse team building one of SAP's most strategically important API capabilities. API Composition powers the way developers — inside and outside SAP — connect to enterprise business data through a single, unified interface. Our work spans cloud-native runtimes, open API standards (GraphQL, OData), and the frontier of AI-era API consumption through MCP.

We value ownership, technical curiosity, and open collaboration. Whether you're deep in a Kubernetes controller, refining a GraphQL schema, or improving our CI/CD automation, your work directly shapes how thousands of developers interact with SAP's business data. You'll find space to learn, grow, and make a real impact in a hybrid-work, flexible environment.

Bring out your best

SAP innovations help more than four hundred thousand customers worldwide work together more efficiently and use business insight more effectively. Originally known for leadership in enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, SAP has evolved to become a market leader in end-to-end business application software and related services for database, analytics, intelligent technologies, and experience management. As a cloud company with two hundred million users and more than one hundred thousand employees worldwide, we are purpose-driven and future-focused, with a highly collaborative team ethic and commitment to personal development. Whether connecting global industries, people, or platforms, we help ensure every challenge gets the solution it deserves. At SAP, you can bring out your best.

We win with inclusion
SAP’s culture of inclusion, focus on health and well-being, and flexible working models help ensure that everyone – regardless of background – feels included and can run at their best. At SAP, we believe we are made stronger by the unique capabilities and qualities that each person brings to our company, and we invest in our employees to inspire confidence and help everyone realize their full potential. We ultimately believe in unleashing all talent and creating a better world.
