Job Description:
Component Engineering - IIBengaluru - India
As a Senior Component Engineer, you will support the selection, qualification, lifecycle management, and cost optimization of components used in Rockwell Automation products. An important part of your role will be to identify and qualify alternate components that reduce cost, improve supply continuity, and maintain product quality and reliability. You will partner with engineering, sourcing, quality, purchasing, manufacturing, and suppliers.
You will report to the Team Lead, Component Engineering and have a hybrid schedule working in Bangalore, India.
Your Responsibilities

Select, evaluate, and qualify electronic, electrical, and electromechanical components for new and existing products.

Drive cost reduction and productivity initiatives by identifying, evaluating, and qualifying alternate components that meet technical, quality, reliability, and compliance requirements.

Evaluate supplier changes, product change notifications, end-of-life notices, and obsolescence risks to determine technical and business impact.

Maintain component data, qualification records, lifecycle status, and documentation in SAP, Windchill, PLM, or component database systems.

Provide component engineering guidance to design engineering, quality, sourcing, purchasing, manufacturing, and supplier teams on component selection, alternates, and lifecycle risks.

Support root cause failure analysis and component-related problem resolution.
The Essentials – You Will Have

Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

7–10 years of experience in component engineering or a related technical engineering role.

Experience with component selection, qualification, alternate evaluation, supplier change evaluation, and lifecycle management.

Experience supporting cost reduction, value engineering, productivity, or alternate sourcing initiatives.

Experience with electronic, electrical, and/or electromechanical components.

Experience working with SAP, Windchill, PLM, or component data management systems.
The Preferred – You Might Also Have
-
5+ years of experience in industrial automation, electronics manufacturing, embedded hardware, controls, or power electronics.

Experience driving cost reduction through alternate component qualification, second-source qualification, supplier collaboration, or value engineering.
-
5+ years of experience with component lifecycle tools such as Silicon Expert, IHS, Z2Data, or similar databases.

Knowledge of RoHS, REACH, UL, IEC, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, or related standards.

Experience supporting global sourcing, quality, manufacturing, and supplier teams.
