Photonics Layout and Tooling Engineer
About the role
Are you a passionate engineer eager to contribute to groundbreaking research and development? Join our team and play a key role in supporting our teams in developing cutting-edge silicon photonics integrated circuits. You'll be involved in the development process, from design and fabrication to testing and analysis, for complex photonic devices and systems-on-chip. Collaborate with experienced designers on innovative projects and large-scale silicon photonics circuits. Apply now and be part of a team pushing the boundaries of photonic technology!
You have:
- 2-4 years of related experience.
- Strong background in Python, C++, software scripting or software development.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Knowledge of optical design software and CAD tools (e.g. Lumerical suite and Klayout).
It would be nice if you also had:
-
Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC) best practices, including testing, debugging, and deployment.
-
Statistics background for implementing useful correlations, plots, charts.
-
Comfortable in a remote/server/Linux environment. Background in parallel programming (multithreading and multiprocessing) is a plus.
-
Experience with SQL database systems.
-
Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
-
Experience with directing and reviewing agentic AI systems.
-
Design, develop, and maintain applications and scripts to automate tools and workflows within the photonic chip fabrication process.
-
Oversee and manage the assembly and build processes for reticles used in photonic chip manufacturing, ensuring quality and efficiency.
-
Understanding of semiconductor or photonic chip manufacturing processes, particularly related to reticle assembly and fabrication
-
Implementing design rule checking and design for testing checks.
-
Experience with manufacturing automation concepts and protocols (e.g., GDS, DRC, DFT) is highly desirable.
-
Maintain and version photonic component process design kits (PDKs).
