About the role

As a Staff Thermal Design Engineer at Nokia, you will drive the development of innovative thermal solutions for optoelectronic products. You will utilize your expertise in thermal analysis, including FEA and CFD, to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will lead the design and validation process, create production-ready CAD models, and engage with vendors to procure thermal components. Your contributions will play a critical role in enhancing product functionality while meeting cost and manufacturing targets, positioning you at the forefront of advancing optical technology for a connected world.

Must-Have:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 10 years of relevant experience

  • Expertise in FEA and CFD using ANSYS and Flo Therm

  • Proficiency in CAD software such as Pro/Engineer, Creo, Solid Works, or AutoCAD

  • Experience in conducting Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)

  • Strong collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams

Nice-To-Have:

  • Knowledge of optical products and telecom qualification specifications

  • Experience with thermal solution assembly procedures

  • Background in experimental validation of thermal solutions

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Familiarity with procurement processes for thermal components

  • Design and implement advanced thermal cooling solutions for optoelectronic products using various heat transfer methods.

  • Conduct thermal, thermo-mechanical, and mechanical FEA analyses to validate designs.

  • Lead experimental validation of thermal solutions to ensure performance specifications are met.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize product designs and develop assembly procedures.

  • Perform Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) on thermal designs to mitigate risks.

  • Create detailed production-ready CAD models and drawings for manufacturing.

  • Work closely with vendors to manage thermal component specifications and procurement.

  • Engage with manufacturing and operations teams to meet cost, yield, and cycle time targets.
