Electrical Engineer, Robotics System Integration and Test
ポジションについて
At Meta, we're building the future of human connection and the technology that enables it. This means continuously inventing and developing technologies for the next generation of experiences.
To continue our efforts on the path to AGI, and as we move closer to a future with intelligent robots and advanced AI models, we're hiring talent across a broad range of disciplines from robotics hardware to system software, machine perception, and artificial intelligence. These crucial projects and initiatives taken on by this team have never been done before, so you have a rare opportunity to help us create new ways people connect around the world.
Meta Robotics Studio is seeking a System Integration and Test Electrical Engineer. This role is pivotal in the holistic integration, validation, and coordination of complex robotic electrical systems — designing and maintaining modular test platforms ("flatpacks/mules") that replicate critical robot subsystems in lab-friendly, rack-mountable form factors for 24/7 continuous integration, firmware validation, and system-level debugging. You will own the electrical integration lifecycle from initial board bring-up through automated test infrastructure, bridging hardware design, cable harness architecture, and power distribution across evolving robot generations. This role is part of a team responsible for initial concept development, analytical modeling, prototype design, construction, and testing.
Electrical Engineer, Robotics System Integration and Test Responsibilities
Design and build modular test platforms (flatpacks/mules) that replicate robot subsystems — including full-body, perception, arm, and hand variants — optimized for 24/7 automated testing, remote recovery, and serviceability
Lead electrical system integration and board bring-up across compute, motor controllers, sensors, power distribution, and communication buses (EtherCAT, CAN, SPI, UART)
Define and execute hardware integration test plans from individual components and sub-assemblies through full system-level validation, including power-on sequencing, signal integrity verification, and functional acceptance testing
Design custom printed circuit board assemblies to emulate subsystem components, optimize test platform functionality, and bridge gaps between robot-equivalent and bench configurations
Design and document cable harness architectures, interconnect block diagrams, and wiring schematics that connect electrical equipment across the system
Perform root cause analysis and debugging of complex multidisciplinary issues spanning electrical, mechanical, firmware, and software domains using standard instrumentation (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, electronic loads)
Develop and maintain test procedures, acceptance criteria, and documentation packages for vendor handoff and contract manufacturer builds
Drive generational transitions — retrofitting existing test platforms as new hardware revisions become available, maintaining generation-agnostic and tool-less serviceability principles
Manage vendor relationships for flatpack/mule design, fabrication, and assembly; prepare CM handoff packages including BOMs, assembly sequences, cabling diagrams, and work instructions
Collaborate cross-functionally with software, firmware, lab infrastructure, and design engineering teams to ensure test platforms faithfully represent robot behavior and support continuous integration pipelines
Minimum Qualifications:
7+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering, with a proven track record of contributing to the successful development, integration, and test of complex electromechanical or robotic systems
BS degree or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field
Experience in system-level electrical integration including board bring-up, power sequencing, signal integrity debugging, and multi-board system validation
Experience with communication bus protocols (EtherCAT, CAN, SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet) in the context of distributed embedded systems
Electrical design verification using standard test and measurement equipment (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, protocol analyzer, LCR, DMM, electronic load)
Experience designing or specifying cable harnesses, power distribution, and interconnect systems for multi-board assemblies
Experience developing and executing hardware test plans, acceptance criteria, and integration procedures
Hands-on lab experience assembling, testing, and debugging electromechanical systems — soldering, crimping, connector assembly, and basic mechanical integration
Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional Engineering, Safety, Manufacturing, and external partners
Experience innovating and solving complex integration and test problems
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with motor controller systems, actuator drive electronics, or motion control integration
MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience
Experience with electrical and operational safety controls and procedures
Signal and power integrity experience
Experience with rack-mount infrastructure design, remote device management, and automated recovery systems for 24/7 lab operation
Vendor engagement and relationship management, including preparation of CM handoff packages (BOMs, work instructions, test procedures)
Experience programming in languages like Python/C/C++ for test automation, system bring-up, debugging, and instrumentation control
Experience building Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test benches, flatpacks/mules, or modular test rigs for continuous integration of embedded systems
Experience with power systems including DC/DC conversion, battery management systems, and power cycling under automated control
