What we look for: Manager, New Verticals Business Development CE
Your role in 30 seconds:
The Manager drives business development with strategic new ecosystem partners to scale Mastercard’s new business activities across Central Europe.
The role owns a partner portfolio end-to-end—identifying and qualifying opportunities, shaping value propositions and commercial models, negotiating agreements, and ensuring successful delivery and adoption.
The focus is on products such as Public Transportation, mobility soutions (E.g. EV-Charging) and additional emerging platforms and new verticals opportunities. You will work across a complex stakeholder landscape—including partners, clients, internal product and technology teams, and frontline commercial teams—to translate market needs and industry pain points into scalable, compliant, and technically feasible solutions.
Reporting to the divisional Business Development Leader, you will help build an agile business development team and support partner coverage across all Central European countries.
Things you do as a Manager Business Development:
- Enable new vertical businesses in the Central European Division by maintaining a solid understanding of platform and new vertical business, industry pain points, and the current technology stack
- Maintain and develop the partner portfolio and grow it to the next level
- Create bespoke solutions and new product propositions that address industry pain points, and drive sales and product delivery in a highly competitive, fast-changing environment
- Own, manage, and convert the pipeline; execute deals and drive implementation to support future growth
- Create business cases, implementation plans, end-to-end operational and support processes, and product roadmaps for concepts under development
- Proactively manage new partnerships by anticipating and responding to technological trends, ecosystem stakeholder needs, and competitive threats
- Partner with frontline teams throughout the stage-gate process (e.g., value proposition creation, proposal development) to ensure solutions meet client needs and drive customer satisfaction
- Provide ecosystem subject matter expertise and identify value-chain-critical partners
- Collaborate with internal business development and product teams to identify suitable Mastercard products, drive subsequent product development, and assess impact on the platforms and new verticals business
- Support execution and refinement of the local and division strategy
- Location: Germany, Munich or Frankfurt
Things we expect from you:
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, management information systems, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- Analytical self-starter with strong communication skills
- Market-focused, innovation-driven mindset to build compelling offerings and solutions
- Strong networking, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Technical and integration experience with complex ecosystem players
- Strong problem-solving, product documentation, and project management skills
- Customer-centric mindset with strong strategic thinking

- Able to translate data and strategic insights into clear narratives for internal and external stakeholders
- Strong product and ecosystem design, business development, and go-to-market skills
- Operational and technical background in payments preferred
- Experience in product development, preferably in payments and/or platform and new verticals businesses
- Proven ability to commercialize solutions at scale across multiple stakeholders
- Strong relationship management, negotiation, and execution skills
- Fluent in English and German (written and spoken); additional languages are a plus
- Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal and cross-cultural skills
- You will either be based in Munich or Frankfurt, and you will need to travel frequently
