Description: Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Facilities Mechanical Engineer to join our team, responsible for planning, designing, and overseeing the reconfiguration, maintenance, and alteration of equipment, machinery, buildings, structures, and other facilities. Our ideal candidate will have an experienced mechanical engineering background with an in-depth understanding of various mechanical systems, including HVAC, compressed air, vacuum, DI water, plumbing, and site utilities.
What You Will Be Doing
As a Facilities Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, designing, and overseeing facility and equipment modifications, ensuring compliance with company and government restrictions. You will gather and review data to inform design decisions, coordinate with architecture/engineering firms, and prepare estimates for construction and facilities acquisition. You will also inspect construction and installation progress, collect requirements from customers, and develop detailed layouts using CAD (Auto-CAD) system.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning, designing, and overseeing facility and equipment modifications, ensuring compliance with company and government restrictions
- Gathering and reviewing data to inform design decisions, including facility specifications, construction feasibility, and required completion dates
- Coordinating with architecture/engineering firms to develop design criteria, prepare layout and detail drawings, and manage the design review process
- Preparing estimates for construction and facilities acquisition, including equipment, installation, labor, materials, and other related costs
- Inspecting construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules
- Collecting requirements from customers and developing detailed layouts using CAD (Auto-CAD) system
- Performing field verification of drawings, load calculations, and pipe sizing
- Organizing and maintaining a record drawing system, coordinating with architecture/engineering firms on releases of as-built drawings
- Troubleshooting and solving mechanical/electrical problems of moderate scope and complexity
- Increasing reliability, determining root causes of failure, developing corrective actions, and monitoring effectiveness
- Managing outside A&E firms through the project design process, overseeing design review at multiple stages

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 5 years of project development experience in facility/manufacturing construction/renovation type projects.
- Diversity of project experience including small and large projects.
- Ability to read and execute engineering drawings and specifications.
- Experience in managing contract performance of designers and contractors/subcontractors.
- Proficient in MS Office software programs including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, and Project.
- Strong understanding of CAD (Auto-CAD) system and ability to develop detailed layouts
- Basic understanding of laboratory, factory/manufacturing/assembly, and office space requirements.
- Experienced in sizing and designing HVAC, mechanical piping, plumbing systems and equipment.
- Familiarity with ASHRAE standards and ICC
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Strong analytical and estimating skills, with ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

- Technical Expertise: Knowledge of equipment commissioning, Building Automation and Controls (BAC), and ability to develop sequences of operation for implementation by consultants and contractors.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
