Job Description: Johnson & Johnson Med Tech Orthopaedics are looking for a Senior Director Transportation & Trade Operations based in either Raynham Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida, Leeds UK.

Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as De Puy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. Should you accept this position, it is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, you would be an employee of De Puy Synthes and your employment would be governed by De Puy Synthes employment processes, programs, policies, and benefit plans. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to you by De Puy Synthes at an appropriate time and subject to any necessary consultation processes.

Job Overview

The Sr. Director, Transportation & Trade Operations provides strategic leadership for global transportation, logistics, and trade compliance activities that enable reliable product flow and regulatory adherence across markets. This role sets the vision and governance for transportation and trade operations, drives operational excellence, and mitigates risk while supporting growth and customer commitments. The position offers high visibility, broad impact, and the opportunity to shape scalable, compliant supply chain capabilities across De Puy Synthes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set the global strategy and operating model for transportation, logistics, and trade operations.
  • Provide executive leadership for domestic and international transportation networks, including carrier strategy and performance management.
  • Lead global trade compliance programs, ensuring adherence to customs, import/export, and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, Commercial, and Regional leaders to align transportation and trade capabilities with business priorities.
  • Establish governance, controls, and risk management practices to ensure compliance, audit readiness, and operational resilience.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service, reduce cost, and improve speed and reliability.
  • Lead, develop, and inspire a global team, building strong succession and leadership capability.
  • Oversee key performance indicators, reporting, and executive‑level communications related to transportation and trade operations.
  • Represent De Puy Synthes with external partners, regulatory bodies, and industry groups as appropriate.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree (MBA or equivalent).

Experience and Skills:

Required:

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in transportation, logistics, trade operations, or global supply chain leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated senior‑level leadership experience managing large, complex, and global organizations.
  • Deep knowledge of global transportation networks and international trade compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to develop strategy and translate it into scalable, executable operating models.
  • Strong financial and analytical acumen with experience managing budgets and performance metrics.

Preferred:

  • Experience in a regulated industry such as medical devices, healthcare, or life sciences.
  • Experience leading global trade compliance programs across multiple regions.
  • Familiarity with transportation management systems and global logistics technologies.
  • Track record of driving large‑scale transformation or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience working in highly matrixed, global organizations.
  • Excellent executive communication and stakeholder‑influencing skills.

  • Language: English (required).
  • Travel: Up to 25%, domestic and international.
  • Certifications: Trade compliance, supply chain, or logistics certifications (preferred).
