We are searching for the best talent for an Operational Excellence Manager to support our Med Tech Orthopaedics business. This position is based at Warsaw, IN Joints Manufacturing location.

Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as De Puy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals.

Should you accept this position, it is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, you would be an employee of De Puy Synthes and your employment would be governed by De Puy Synthes employment processes, programs, policies, and benefit plans. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to you by De Puy Synthes at an appropriate time and subject to any necessary consultation processes.

For this role, we are seeking an individual with a diverse business background, preferably with direct experience in medium to large scale manufacturing companies, with specific supply chain, process excellence and organizational change proficiencies. Excellent communication, influencing and facilitation skills as well as the ability to see multiple sides of an issue are critical. External J&J experience and/or academic study of Lean and process excellence are particularly beneficial. The Business Excellence Manager is responsible for influencing multi-functional teams to deliver tangible business results through the application of methodologies such as JJPS (Johnson and Johnson Production System), Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead and direct the ongoing development and implementation of the transformation strategy for the US Joints Manufacturing site in Warsaw, IN.
  • Lead the change management aspects of the Lean program.

  • Promote and deploy all aspects of the JJPS Program (Johnson and Johnson Production System) across manufacturing.

  • Be an active member of the site’s senior leadership teams.

  • Facilitate building and deploying the strategic business plan for De Puy Warsaw plant.

  • Coach, mentor, and develop the Lean Implementation Team & Support staff throughout the business.

  • Lead and report site operational dashboards as part of Tiered Review Process.

  • Develop and co-ordinate plant-wide lean training modules.

  • Deploy agreed standard methodologies to other sites across the Joints Reconstruction sector.

  • Work with the New Product Introductions Group to incorporate lean principles in product and process design and development.

  • Work with key suppliers to drive the adoption and implementation of lean work practices to drive increased performance on cost, quality and delivery.

  • Actively promote the use of the DMAIC framework for all reengineering type activities.

  • Ensure all transformation changes are conducted to the highest of standards in a safe, compliant, and effective manner.

  • Facilitate lean driven events throughout the manufacturing and transactional value streams that deliver breakthrough process improvements.

  • Develop and implement a fully integrated consistent Standard Work program for all levels across the site.

  • Instil and maintain a sense of urgency and customer focus across the site.

  • Demonstrate strong leadership and a clearly identifiable work ethos throughout the lean program.

  • Develop and lead reciprocal Lean initiatives within the Warsaw site.

Qualifications:

    • Education and experience requirements:
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s and/or University degree is required; a degree focused in Engineering, Science or Business is preferred.

Required:

    • Minimum of six (6) years of relevant work experience
  • Demonstrates advanced expertise in Lean methodologies, tools, and practices to drive process optimization and operational excellence

  • Consistent track record in leading significant Change initiatives that have delivered breakthrough results for an organization

  • Demonstrated leadership, training delivery, and deployment of Lean at multiple levels of an organization

  • People management knowledge and experience, and strong cross-functional business insight

  • Superior change management skills including the understanding of both individual change and organizational change.

  • Ability to build trust and quickly build credibility. Must have strong collaboration and influencing skills.

Preferred:

    • MS in Lean Operations, Process Optimization, and/or Operations Management
  • Desirable Green or Black Belt Certification in Lean and/or Six Sigma.
