About the job

A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

In this role, you will join the Product Development team in the design, manufacture, and delivery of fitness wearables. You will partner closely with design engineering and product identifier to drive and guide early design decisions and collaborate effectively with manufacturing partners and equipment providers to develop efficient cost-effective high volume assembly processes and solutions. You will be involved in the entire product development process from architecture selection to assembly process creation to factory implementation and qualification.

The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.

Responsibilities

  • Define product and select architecture in collaboration with design and interaction design teams, via early design for automation engagement.

  • Generate functional requirements specifications for automated adhesive, sealing, screw driving, cleaning, conveyance, and other precision electronic assembly operations.

  • Design automation solution and development in conjunction with manufacturing and automation partners.

  • Develop automation implementation schedules and provide oversight of factory and site acceptance testing activities.

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Robotics Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 2 years of experience with process or product development with electro-mechanical products.

  • 2 years of experience in program management.

Preferred qualifications

  • 7 years of experience with process or product development with electro-mechanical products.

  • 2 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.

  • Experience in high-volume and high-precision consumer electronics.

  • Experience with robotic manipulators, systems, and material handling systems.

  • Experience with manufacturing process or fixture development and validation.

  • Experience with CAD system and tolerance analysis.
