Production Technician

Position Overview: Within General Mills, our manufacturing facilities are committed to achieving zero human and food safety incidents and it is every employee’s responsibility to fully support this vision. General Laborers are hired as members of a manufacturing team. They are responsible for the support of various processing and packaging equipment operations throughout the facility. The General Mills Avon plant operates 24 hours per day 7 days per week. 1st shift is 7AM - 3PM, 2nd shift is 3PM - 11PM, 3rd shift is 11PM - 7AM. Changes in volume and production requirements can result in changes in work schedule and additional overtime. Manufacturing Technicians/Operators must be willing to work any shift including nights and weekends. Current opening is on 2nd or 3rd shift 5-6 days per week. The starting wage for this position is $22.58/Hr (1st shift), $22.92/Hr (2nd shift) and $22.99/Hr (3rd shift). Additionally, we offer a comprehensive benefits package including: Health, dental & vision Pay rate increase this December Eligible for bi-annual 6% target performance based bonus Retirement pension 401k Main Responsibilities: Follow all company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment Lead production lines by supplying with materials as needed Perform all sanitation and clean up duties Demonstrate a strong customer service mindset Perform maintenance during bottlenecks or when production lines are shut down Perform start-up, change over and shut down of operating equipment Responsible for executing all required HACCP processes and documentation Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives in order to increase platform performance Attend meetings and training as required Perform additional related tasks as assigned Minimum Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age or older Must have the ongoing right to work in the U.S. without sponsorship High School Diploma or GED 1 or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment Effective written and oral communication skills Proficiency in basic computer skills Must be able to lift 50 lbs as required by the position Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including: standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling and twisting over surfaces Ability to climb and/or work at heights while utilizing stairs, ladders, personnel lifts, or platforms Willing and able to work any shift schedule, including nights and weekends Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment such as safety shoes, face masks, safety glasses, hearing protection, a hard hat, a hair/beard net and gloves when required Willing and able to adhere to all grooming requirements necessary for a food manufacturing environment Willing to work around industrial high speed moving machinery Ability to work in confined space such as bins, silos, or tanks Ability to work with allergens that might be present in a food environment COMPANY OVERVIEW We exist to make food the world loves.
