In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and in accordance with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), we have implemented a number of safety precautions at all of our locations to protect our employees. Within General Mills, our manufacturing facilities are committed to achieving zero human and food safety incidents and it is every employee’s responsibility to fully support this vision. Maintenance Mechanics are hired as members of a manufacturing team. They are responsible for the support of various processing and packaging equipment operations throughout the facility. The General Mills-Hannibal plant operates 24 hours per day 7 days per week. This is a 12 hour night position. Shift schedules include 5 pm-5 am; 5:30 pm-5:30 am; or 6 pm-6 am and will be determined upon hire. Changes in volume and production requirements can result in changes in work schedule and additional overtime. Maintenance Mechanics must be willing to work any shift including nights and weekends. The starting wage for a Maintenance Mechanic position is $24.99 per hour with periodic merit increases up to a rate of $30.51 per hour. General Mills also offers shift differential payment for those working off-shift. Wage rates: $24.99 per hour - starting pay $26.38 per hour - 6 months (after successful completion of 6 month probationary evaluation period) $29.67 per hour - 1 year $30.51 per hour - 2 years Main Responsibilities In this role, you will: Follow all company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment Install, maintain, repair, and replace industrial processing and packaging machinery, work tools and equipment Provide technical support and plant leadership for equipment troubleshooting and equipment modifications Perform both uptime and down time preventative maintenance in adherence to the master PM schedule Perform corrective maintenance work orders Repair and maintain building utilities Have the ability to learn and perform minor machining and welding tasks Design and layout circuits, install fixtures, wiring conduits, motors, and other electrical equipment/components, including proven ability to use multimeter Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives in order to increase platform performance Assist with training new employees as needed Attend meetings and trainings as required Perform additional related tasks as assigned Minimum Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age or older Must have the ongoing right to work in the U.S. without sponsorship High School Diploma or GED Proficiency in basic computer skills 2 years experience in industrial maintenance or equivalent education in a related field Proven ability to use multimeter and other electrical equipment/components Proficiency in basic computer skills Must be able to lift, move, push, pull 55 lbs Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including: standing, walking, climbing, bending, squatting, pushing, pulling and twisting over surfaces Willing and able to work any shift schedule, including nights and weekends, daily overtime and overtime outside your regular scheduled hours as required (more than 40 hours per week) Must be able to work in hot, cold, noisy, dusty, wet environmental working conditions Must be able to climb and/or work at heights while utilizing stair, ladders, personal lifts, or platforms Ability to work with allergens that might be present in a food environment Willing and able to adhere to all safety standards and wear all necessary personal protective equipment such as safety shoes, face masks, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat/bump cap, hair/beard net and gloves, etc. when required Willing to work on and around industrial high speed moving machinery Ability to work in confined space such as bins, silos, or tanks Willing and able to adhere to all grooming requirements necessary for a food manufacturing environment Preferred Qualifications: Working knowledge of PLCs, HVAC systems, pnuematic and hydraulic systems Technical degree in industrial maintenance or related field Continuing education in maintenance/technical skills Computer Maintenance Management System experience Demonstrated leadership ability COMPANY OVERVIEW We exist to make food the world loves.
