Maintenance Technician (Includes $2,000 Sign-On Bonus)

Position Overview: Within General Mills, our manufacturing facilities are committed to achieving zero human and food safety incidents and it is every employee’s responsibility to fully support this vision. Maintenance Technicians are hired as members of a manufacturing team. They are responsible for the preventative and reactive maintenance of processing and packaging equipment within the manufacturing facility. The General Mills Murfreesboro plant operates 24 hours per day 7 days per week. Changes in volume and production requirements can result in changes in work schedule and additional overtime. Maintenance Technicians must be willing to work any shift including nights and weekends. The starting wage for a Maintenance Technician position is $26.86 to $29.07 per hour with the potential to earn up to a rate of $32.20 per hour. General Mills also offers shift differential payment for those working off-shift; $.50/hour for 2nd Shift and $1.00/hour for 3rd Shift. We are offering a $2,000 sign-on bonus (pre-tax), that is paid after the first 90 days, with a 2 year commitment of employment. Repayment is required if the employee leaves before the 2 years is over. Main Responsibilities: Follow all company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment Install, maintain, repair, and replace industrial processing and packaging machinery, work tools and equipment Provide technical support and plant leadership for equipment troubleshooting and equipment modifications Perform both uptime and down time preventative maintenance in adherence to the master PM schedule Perform corrective maintenance work orders Have the ability to learn and perform minor machining and welding tasks Design and layout circuits, install fixtures, wiring conduits, motors, and other electrical equipment/components Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives in order to increase platform performance Have the ability to become the subject matter expert of equipment they are assigned and be willing to train other employees on the functionality and maintenance of that equipment. Attend meetings and trainings as required Perform additional related tasks as assigned Minimum Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age or older Must have the ongoing right to work in the U.S. without sponsorship High School Diploma or GED 1 year Manufacturing Maintenance experience in Industrial Maintenance or a Technical Degree in Industrial Maintenance or Engineering Proficiency in basic computer skills Must be able to lift 50 lbs as required by the position Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including: standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling and twisting over surfaces Ability to climb and/or work at heights while utilizing stairs, ladders, personnel lifts, or platforms Willing and able to work any shift schedule, including nights and weekends Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment such as safety shoes, face masks, safety glasses, hearing protection, a hard hat, a hair/beard net and gloves when required Willing and able to adhere to all grooming requirements necessary for a food manufacturing environment Working knowledge of PLCs, HVAC systems, pneumatic and hydraulic systems Ability to work in hot, cold, noisy, dusty, wet environmental working conditions. Ability to work with allergens that might be present in a food environment Willing to work around industrial high speed moving machinery Ability to work at a tobacco-free site, except for designated areas Preferred Qualifications: Technical degree in industrial maintenance or related field Continuing education in maintenance/technical skills Demonstrated leadership ability COMPANY OVERVIEW We exist to make food the world loves.
