In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and in accordance with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), we have implemented a number of safety precautions at all of our locations to protect our employees. Position Overview: Within General Mills, our manufacturing facilities are committed to achieving zero human and food safety incidents and it is every employee’s responsibility to fully support this vision. Production Millwrights will work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment working on a wide range of equipment. Millwrights are responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and improving our production equipment in a safe manner while ensuring food safety and quality. They are responsible for major jobs, production equipment changeovers, installation, and repairs without direct supervision. These jobs include technologies such as drive systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics. Millwrights must scope out jobs to estimate the amount and kinds of resources needed including parts and labor. They must work from all types of blueprints, drawings, and manuals as well as perform any other duties as required. The General Mills Cincinnati Plant is a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week Operation. We have 3 shifts: 3rd Shift (11:00 PM - 7:00 AM), 1st Shift (7:00 AM - 3:00 PM) & 2nd Shift (3:00 PM - 11:00 PM). Changes in volume and production requirements can result in changes in work schedule and additional overtime. Millwrights/Production Mechanics must be willing to work any shift including nights and weekends. Pay rate is $33.31 per hour. During the first six months, Millwrights/Production Mechanics receive a training rate of $30.74 per hour. After 6 months, Millwrights will receive a pay increase to the full pay rate of $33.31 per hour. Main Responsibilities: Responsible for making repairs on equipment in the most efficient manner; must attain close tolerances; opportunity for ingenuity and resourcefulness Must be goal oriented and self-directed in order to stay focused on driving metrics results from reactive to proactive maintenance systems Responsible for performing Preventative Maintenance inspections on plant equipment Work with the Engineering, Operations and Maintenance Departments to generate process improvements Utilize the Maintenance Management Information System (Maximo) to report and complete maintenance work orders Be an active member of the continuous improvement process Communicate effectively across the plant organization Other duties assigned by supervisor Minimum Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age or older Must have the ongoing right to work in the U.S. without sponsorship High School Diploma or GED Must be able to lift 50 – 100lbs max at times Must be able to stand on a ladder and reach above head to work on rotary valves that are up to but not limited to 1 hour at a time. Must be able to use a hoist and balance pieces of equipment that could weigh up to 300 lbs. to remove or replace the equipment. Must be able to stand for long periods of time (>30 min) at one time while working on a problem. Must be able to stoop, bend, kneel and crawl to be able to get to certain pieces of equipment for long periods of time (>30 min). Must be able to climb ladders (A frame, stationery and platform) and steps to reach work areas. Occasionally must be able to manipulate your body to work in cramped and awkward positions. Must be able to lie on your back to get under equipment to work on it for long periods of time (> 30 min). Must be able to use hands to manipulate and work with a variety of hand tools and machinery. Ability to work in hot, cold, noisy, dusty, wet environmental working conditions Ability to work flexible workdays and hours depending on the season Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment such as safety shoes, face masks, safety glasses, hearing protection, a hard hat, a hair/beard net and gloves when required Ability to work with allergens that might be present in a food environment Willing to work around industrial high-speed moving machinery Ability to work at a tobacco-free site, except in designated areas COMPANY OVERVIEW We exist to make food the world loves.
