- In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and in accordance with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), we have implemented a number of safety precautions at all of our locations to protect our employees. Position overview The General Mills Flour Mill operates 24 hours per day 7 days per week
- Swing shift. Changes in volume and production requirements can result in changes in work schedule and additional overtime. General Laborers must be willing to work any shift including nights and weekends. The starting wage for a General Laborer position is $18.32 per hour. This is an entry job, however there are opportunities with training to get to a higher level Operator position. General Mills also offers shift differential payment for those working off-shift. Time worked after 8 hours is paid at 1.5X, all time on Saturday worked is paid at 1.5X, and all time worked on Sunday is paid at 2X. Additionally we offer a comprehensive benefits package including Health insurance with minimal premiums, 100% company paid dental, as well as 401k (with company match), pension and vacation. Responsibilities In this role, you will: Follow all company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment Support production lines by supplying with materials as needed Perform various sanitation and clean up duties Assists operators during bottlenecks or when production lines are shut down Participate in start-up, change over and shut down of operating equipment Be responsible for executing all required HACCP processes and documentation Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives in order to increase platform performance Attend meetings and trainings as required Perform additional related tasks as assigned Minimum Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age or older Must have the ongoing right to work in the U.S. without sponsorship High School Diploma or GED Proficiency in basic computer skills Must be able to lift, move, push, pull 50 lbs on a regular basis Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including: standing, walking, climbing, bending, squatting, pushing, pulling and twisting over surfaces Willing and able to work any shift schedule, including nights and weekends, daily overtime and overtime outside your regular scheduled hours as required (more than 40 hours per week) Must be able to work in hot, cold, noisy, dusty, wet environmental working conditions Must be able to climb and/or work at heights while utilizing stair, ladders, personal lifts, or platforms Willing and able to adhere to all safety standards and wear all necessary personal protective equipment such as safety shoes, face masks, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat/bump cap, hair/beard net and gloves when required Ability to work with allergens that might be present in a food environment Willing to work around industrial high speed moving machinery Ability to work in confined space such as bins, silos, or tanks Willing and able to adhere to all grooming requirements necessary for a food manufacturing environment Preferred Qualifications: 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment Demonstrated mechanical ability (at least 1+ years) Demonstrated leadership ability COMPANY OVERVIEW We exist to make food the world loves.
