Organization Overview Communications in Japan is embedded within the Lilly Japan to lead its internal and external communications, advocacy and environment shaping efforts working with cross functional partners.
Responsibilities:
Corporate Communications (Digital Focus):
As a core member of the Corporate Communications Team, this role leads digital-focused corporate communications and supports both internal and external corporate communications programs under limited supervision by leadership. By strategically leveraging digital channels, including the corporate website and social media, the role enables the clear and effective communication of Eli Lilly’s values, purpose, strengths, and distinctive identity, strengthening the company’s corporate reputation both internally and externally.
From a digital communications perspective, this position leads the development and execution of consistent corporate messaging and brand expression. The role supports the building of trust and engagement with a wide range of stakeholders, including media, the general public, patients, job seekers, and employees, while ensuring alignment with corporate strategy and brand standards.
Key Job Accountabilities:
- Own the strategic management and continuous improvement of the corporate website as a core owned media platform, ensuring content accuracy, relevance, timeliness, regulatory compliance, and alignment with corporate strategy and brand standards.
- Lead the planning, creation, and optimization of digital content across corporate digital channels, including website and social media, to effectively engage key target audiences such as media, the general public, patients, job seekers, and employees.
- Manage corporate social media channels, including content development, editorial planning, community management, and performance optimization, to support corporate reputation, brand positioning, and employer branding objectives.
- Oversee social media advertising initiatives, including campaign planning, budget management, execution, and performance analysis, in collaboration with internal and external partners.
- Establish and enforce digital governance frameworks, including content guidelines, approval processes, and cross-functional coordination with global, regional, and local stakeholders.
- Drive integrated digital communications aligned with Eli Lilly’s business strategy, corporate priorities, key messages, and strategic initiatives.
- Ensure brand consistency and integrity across all digital touchpoints through effective management of corporate brand assets and adherence to brand governance standards.
Basic Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Digital Media, Journalism, or a related field is preferred; equivalent knowledge and experience will also be considered. At least 5 years of experience in corporate or digital communications, preferably within the pharmaceutical or regulated healthcare industry
- Strong experience in digital content strategy, website management, and social media communications to support corporate reputation and internal engagement
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders and guide decision‑making through data‑driven digital communication insights
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Japanese, including experience developing executive‑level and digital‑first communications
Additional Skills/Preferences
- Successful experience working with cross-functional teams, including collaboration and consensus building
- Experience in crisis communications
- Must be agile and innovative: Leverages an agile and creative mindset to adapt to change and drive innovative value creation, continuous process improvement, and proactive learning through new technology, processes, and people
Additional Information
Travel : Local travel will be required time to time including 2 days working from the office (either in Tokyo or Kobe)
International Travel might happen once a year.
