Senior IT Engineer Network at Continental
About the role
The Senior Network IT Engineer supports the development of secure, scalable, and resilient networks by designing and implementing enterprise DDI solutions (DNS, DHCP, IP Adress Management), leading complex projects, and providing expert-level support across global sites. This role collaborates with internal teams and external partners, contributes to architectural decisions, and drives continuous improvement aligned with modern IT practices including automation.
- Under general supervision, this position will support, maintain, and configure Global connectivity infrastructure.
- Consulting, designing, and piloting network architectures and deployment of next-generation DNS, DHCP and IPAM services according to basic architecture best practices
- Communication and collaboration with external suppliers, e.g., managed service providers, software and hardware vendors, as well as internal departments, business units and group sectors
- Continuously improving the DNS, DHCP and IPAM functionalities and operations, fostering innovations, network stability and reliability, security and cost efficiency
- Schedules and performs installations, MAC (moves, adds and changes) and upgrades in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Installs, configures, monitors and maintains IT and OT network firewalls, making modifications to existing rule bases according to established policies.
- Manage and help implement LAN/WLAN architecture incl. CISCO wireless standards
- Creates on-site documentation for local IT to be able to better support devices at their locations.
- Monitor and control network performance in the areas of response, throughput and availability.
- Reseach specific products as necessary, participating in tool and vendor evaluations.
- Drive incident resolution and problem management processes
- Automate network tasks and contribute to process improvements
- Lead and deliver complex network projects across global locations
- Create and maintain technical documentation and network diagrams
- This position will be supporting our Plants/Offices globally. Travel to these plants may be required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related equivalent work experience
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent experience
- At least 5 years of network engineering experience with large enterprise network environments
- Strong knowledge of DDI architecture, subnetting and IP Adress Management, preferably QIP
- Basic knowledge in LAN/WLAN architectures, routing protocols, and network security firewalls
- Hands-on experience with planning, implementation, and administration of DDI systems
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and business teams
- Ability to assess and deploy technologies to meet diverse business needs
- Ability to troubleshoot, perform root case analysises, and apply ITSM Operations standards
- Must have the ability to explain technical topics to IT and non-IT colleagues
- Eagerness to learn and develop
Nice to have: - Experience with Cisco network systems
- Experience with Fortinet network systems
- Network automation experience (e.g., Ansible, Terraform)
