Applications/Uses of Extrinsic Differential Geometry?

Hey yall, I was recently reading through O’Neill’s “Elementary Differential Geometry” and have been loving it. The book is written in a way that‘s very easy to understand in my opinion. However, one thing I noticed was that the first several chapters all concern highly extrinsic constructions (a lot of time is dedicated to Frame Fields, for instance).
