About the Department

Enterprise Strategic Intelligence, which sits under Enterprise Strategy, is responsible for managing the collection, analysis and distribution of competitive and market data that support the Enterprise, as well as the various Evernorth businesses. The competitive information is used to develop insights and create actionable information for all areas of the Evernorth organization including PBM, Pharmacy, Accredo, Health System Services, and Virtual Care. The group focuses on numerous PBM, Pharmacy, and Specialty Pharmacy competitors, as well as other industry players to evaluate all aspects of the health services competitive landscape. The information is also used to develop a deeper understanding of key healthcare service competitors (e.g., CVS, Optum, Carelon) and numerous niche competitors and disruptors to inform the strategic direction for the Healthcare Services business with the primary goal of ensuring organizational leaders have the market understanding they need to make sound strategic decisions.

Position Summary

The Sr. Advisor, Strategic Intelligence supports the competitive intelligence process and function within Enterprise Strategy and Evernorth. The competitive intelligence function will manage the collection, organization, and analysis of competitive market data to develop insights and create deliverables with actionable information for various areas of the organization.

Functions of the Job

  • Lead Competitive Intelligence (CI) research and analysis across Enterprise Strategy and all Evernorth businesses (with a primary focus on specialty and pharmacy LOBs), translating market signals, competitor actions, and industry dynamics into actionable insights for senior leadership
  • Work with internal stakeholders to complete ad hoc CI research projects, including research into competitor products, programs and other relevant competitive data, ensuring research meets the needs of the requestor and is interpreted correctly
  • Partner cross-functionally with Strategy, Product, Sales, Clinical, Finance, and Government Affairs to align intelligence outputs with business priorities and upcoming decision cycles
  • Own end-to-end intelligence cycles, including hypothesis framing, research design, structured analysis, and delivery of executive-ready outputs
  • Dissemination, analysis, and ad hoc modeling of competitor financial information, to include benchmarking and understanding of the implications related to competitor financial trends
  • Ownership and maintenance of the Competitive Intelligence Share Point site, ensuring documents, presentations, and other collateral is up-to-date and stored in an organized manner
  • Utilize AI/Copilot tools to accelerate research, enhance synthesis, generate competitive profiles, automate workflows, and increase insight accuracy and speed
  • Build repeatable frameworks, templates, and processes to enhance CI scalability across all Evernorth business units
  • Act as a thought leader in competitive intelligence best practices, insight storytelling, and the application of AI-enabled research methods
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 5–8+ years of experience in competitive intelligence, strategy, consulting, market insights, or a related field; experience in healthcare, PBM, insurance, or digital health strongly preferred
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to break down complex, ambiguous problems and produce clear, concise insights
  • Familiarity with financial statements required
  • Expertise using AI/Copilot tools to accelerate research, automate synthesis, enhance productivity, and build scalable intelligence workflows
  • Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, capable of producing executive-ready deliverables and presenting complex concepts in simple, strategic terms
  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and work effectively across functions in a matrixed organization
  • Deep understanding of healthcare market trends, PBM models, specialty pharmacy dynamics, digital health innovation, and payer/provider economics (preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred
