IT is everywhere in the business, from the design of an aircraft until its delivery and beyond. Airbus started its digital journey with the objective to transform the company and to prepare it for the future. This transformation includes new global governance, new ways of working and the implementation of digital business services and platforms.
Within the Digital function, the Governance and Transformation department plays a key transversal role in enabling the Digital Transformation, from FRAMING - expressing strategic intentions and defining simple, flexible and scalable frames - to SUPPORTING Domains and PSL’s while ensuring alignment between functions and divisions - to REPORTING through consolidated views, highlighting hotspots and relevant needs for support & decision-making.
In India, the Digital Strategy, Governance & Transformation team plays a key transversal role promoting synergies between multiple domains across Airbus worldwide with a flexible and adaptable approach which helps in sharing best practices, architecture, innovation, operational excellence and being efficient with cost, quality and time.
A technical lead at Airbus acts as the technical representative of the product, overseeing its entire technical path. In this context, the Technical Lead will join the Enterprise Architecture PSL responsible for Process, Methods, Tools, and Data (PMTD) at Airbus. The lead will own the technical solution specific to the Enterprise Architecture Repository Platform, guide the team, ensure architectural compliance, and drive the future direction and evolution of the platform.
Primary Responsibilities:

Own the technical design and architectural direction for the Enterprise Architecture Repository, ensuring the system efficiently models and manages the complex data relationships (Business Capabilities, Applications, Products, etc.).

Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) and lead the team in the development of secure, scalable APIs, governance, and deployment strategies using the Mule Soft API Gateway, Data Weave, and Node.js/Nest.js.

Architect, design, and optimize robust data pipelines for integration with the Skywise Data Lake, defining data querying, transformation, and ingestion strategies to ensure data quality and flow.

Lead the development, standardization, and performance optimization of the My Portfolio web front-end (Angular).
-
Drive the strategic technical roadmap, including the planned migration from Alfabet/MongoDB to a structured database system.

Develop high and low-level designs and ensure all implemented parameters are in compliance with the enterprise’s architectural blueprints.

Coordinate the functional and technical integration across all components: My Portfolio, Alfabet, Mule Soft Gateway, and Skywise.

Define the team's best coding practices, technical standards, and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines using Jenkins, Open Shift, and Terraform.

Mentor and coach junior and mid-level developers, conduct code reviews, and ensure solution quality.

Define and champion the overall test strategy, advanced testing scenarios, and automated monitoring of test execution.

Act as a technical liaison with Enterprise Architects, business stakeholders, and other development teams.
Qualification & Experience:
Required:
-
A Bachelor/ Master Degree in Computer Science or a relevant field with overall 12+ years of hands-on software development experience.
-
5+ years in a senior or technical leadership role with demonstrated experience leading development efforts for enterprise applications.
-
Expert-level knowledge and proven experience with the Mule Soft integration stack (API Gateway, Data Weave, Anypoint Studio) and setting API governance policies.
-
Mastery of the core application stack: Angular, Node.js/Nest.js, Typescript, and MongoDB.
-
Deep architectural experience with Data Lake/Data Platform integration (e.g., Skywise), including designing and optimizing large-scale ETL/ELT data pipelines.
-
Expertise in SQL and strong experience designing schemas for highly relational structured databases, critical for the future state architecture.
-
Expertise in the DevOps stack: Containerization (Docker), Orchestration (Open Shift), CI/CD (Jenkins), and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
-
In-depth knowledge of Enterprise Architecture and Application Portfolio Management (APM) concepts.
-
Proven ability to lead technical design, mentor team members, and manage technical debt.

Extensive experience working in agile environments (SAFe, Scrum).

Strong in written and verbal communication

Technical certification or course on any/most of the above mentioned technologies

Basic working knowledge of one programming language like Python or .Net or Java

Prior experience in database migration or replacement projects (e.g., NoSQL to SQL, or legacy system replacement).

Experience with EA tools like Alfabet at an administrator or data model level.
Success Metrics:
Success will be measured in a variety of areas, including but not limited to:

Strategic Architectural Leadership: Successful completion of milestones for the critical migrations and the timely definition of the platform's long-term technical architecture and roadmap.

Data Integrity and Pipeline Reliability: Achieve and maintain zero critical failures or data quality issues in the complex Skywise data ingestion and extraction pipelines, ensuring accurate and consistent data flow.

Architectural Health and Standards: Drive the reduction of technical debt, enforce rigorous engineering standards and best practices (code quality, testing), and ensure technical designs align with enterprise architectural blueprints.

Team Empowerment and Delivery: Demonstrate measurable improvement in the development team’s productivity (sprint velocity) and technical capabilities through effective mentorship, coaching, and technical oversight.
