About the role

Job Description:

The Structure Design & Analysis team is part of the ‘Airframe Modelling & Simulation’ group under
the Airframe department and plays a key role in design, development and certification of current and future aircraft programmes.

Job scope (core activities):

  • Static Stress and F&DT calculations for metallic, composite and hybrid structures, to
    assess design solutions for manufacturing non-conformities, airframe repairs and
    reworks, and modifications to the aircraft definition.
  • Ensure appropriate Airbus methods, processes and procedures are followed.
  • Work closely with the Wing PET team in Broughton, supporting the stress team.
  • Liaise with and support stakeholders such as Design, Manufacturing, Quality and other
    Airbus departments as necessary to come up with optimum solutions and ensure Stress
    requirements are fully integrated.
  • Develop and maintain component / aircraft familiarity, to ensure prompt response to
    build.
  • Develop towards and maintaining Technical Signature Delegation for concessions for
    primary and secondary aircraft structures.
  • Check and Approve / Pre-approve stress justification for non-conformity or modification.
  • Provide technical guidance to peers and develop stress engineers in the delegation process.

Required Skills:

  • Experience in static analysis of aircraft structural components and good understanding
    of F&DT concepts (Airbus methods and tools would be preferable)

  • Proven experience answering concessions, preferably on aerospace and airbus
    components.

  • Preferably already on the development path to gain Airbus signatory delegation or ability
    to do so in short duration.

  • Broad range of standard hand and computer methods. (e.g.: ISAMI, GFEM, DFEM, etc…)

  • Understanding of Certification requirements and experience with stress dossiers

  • Finite element method / finite element analysis (FEM / FEA)

  • Sound knowledge of structural design principles, aircraft loads and aircraft structures

  • Very good analytical and reasoning skills

  • Committed in their own development to learn new skills and willing to take on Technical
    Signature Delegation.

  • Self-motivated, proactive team player. Ability to liaise/negotiate with design, stress, EU
    teams and customer services
    Tools: Patran/Nastran, Hypermesh, ISAMI (preferred), AF-Twin, NASGRO, SAFE, DAMTOL

Qualification:

  • Graduate/Post graduate (Aerospace / Mechanical / Civil)

Experience:

  • 5-7 years

  • Ability to work independently & in a transnational team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility & adaptability
