At ABB, your work goes beyond contracts and clauses. As Legal Counsel Finance, you help safeguard and enable ABB’s global Corporate Treasury function—supporting the financial backbone of an international technology leader that drives progress toward a more sustainable future.

This is a newly created role, giving you the opportunity to grow with the function, take ownership early on, and build deep expertise at the intersection of law, finance, and business.

🧠 About the role

As Legal Counsel Finance, you provide in house legal support to ABB’s Corporate Treasury teams worldwide. You report to the Head of Legal Finance and work closely with treasury, finance, and legal colleagues across regions.

Minimum 3 days per week at the office

Working hours

Full time (40 hours)

You will join a small, highly specialized Legal Finance team where your input is visible, valued, and impactful from day one.

💡 What you will work on

In this role, you gain exposure to real, hands on treasury and finance work in a global setting. You will:

• Review and negotiate banking terms and conditions, including bank account agreements and cash pooling arrangements
• Monitor changes and developments in EU financial regulations relevant for the Corporate Treasury function
• Assist Corporate Treasury in supporting M&A projects
• Draft corporate authorizations (e.g. board resolutions) for the Corporate Treasury legal entities
• Support Corporate Treasury with KYC and AML requests
• Oversee signing processes of banking agreements and documentation, and ensure accurate and comprehensive records in corporate systems by Corporate Treasury
• Draft treasury related intra-group agreements in English
• Assist the Corporate Funding team in the renewal of its debt issuance programs and in debt issuances
• Translate complex legal topics into clear and practical advice
• Collaborate closely with internal Legal & Integrity colleagues and country legal teams

You will be part of the Legal Finance team, supporting Corporate Treasury globally and across multiple countries. The work is international by nature and requires collaboration across:

• Treasury teams (cash management, funding, trading)
• Country legal teams
• Other Legal & Integrity professionals

✅ What you bring

You are a legal professional who wants more than a purely technical role. You are curious about how the business works and enjoy turning legal knowledge into real world solutions.

Must haves

• Law degree (bar admission preferred)
• 3+ years of experience as a finance or corporate associate in an international law firm or multinational company
• Strong research skills, including the ability to analyze and synthetize financial regulations in different jurisdictions
• Transactional or deal experience
• Excellent drafting skills in English and strong attention to detail
• Proactive mindset and willingness to take ownership
• Ability to prioritize and stay structured in a fast moving environment

Nice to haves

• Experience using AI tools for contract analysis or legal research
• Exposure to in house legal work
• Interest in treasury, finance and business operations
