ABB's Distribution Solutions Division facilitates the efficient and reliable distribution, protection and control of power by improving electric power quality while strengthening the resilience of the grid. The Division offers segment-specific products and solutions that largely serve utilities, industry and infrastructure segments, often providing the requisite medium-voltage link between high-voltage transmission systems and low-voltage users. With ABB Ability™ enabled connected solutions at its core, the offering includes medium-voltage air- and gas-insulated switchgear (1 to 66 kilovolts), indoor and outdoor circuit breakers, reclosers, fuses, contactors, relays, instrument transformers, sensors, motor control centers, as well as low-voltage switchgear for the ANSI standard markets.
Role Overview
Reports to: Operations Manager
Work Model: On-site at Tangerang Factory
In this role, you will support the local unit in building capabilities to control products and systems effectively. You'll ensure compliance with internal, customer, and industry standards in a safe and cost-effective environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Testing and Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) operations for medium-voltage switchgear, ensuring full compliance with IEC 62271 standards
- Execute and validate routine tests, protection relay programming, functional verification, and product documentation
- Prepare comprehensive test plans and procedures in alignment with IEC and ABB quality standards
- Possess hands-on experience in conducting Low, Medium, and High Voltage testing for the Switchgear, ensuring compliance with industry standards and delivering reliable performance across various electrical systems
- Operate testing equipment for relay testing, HV, CT, VT, contact resistance, and insulation resistance
- Demonstrate skill in relay protection system programming to support accurate testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting
- Show expertise in reading and interpreting electrical drawings and systems
- Prove proficiency in using design software such as EPLAN, ECAD, E3, AutoCAD, and Solid Works (preferable)
- Be familiar with protection relay programming in accordance with ANSI code standards and skilled in using relay programming software for testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting
- Supervise and mentor technicians by monitoring progress, reporting key milestones, and providing actionable insights to support operational decisions and resolve issues
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance processes, boost efficiency, and elevate product quality through collaboration and innovation
- Support supplier assessment activities to ensure compliance with quality standards and performance expectations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 5+ years of experience in Low/Medium/High Voltage testing, FAT, and commissioning operations
- Expert in schematic, single-line, and logic analysis
- Skilled in relay programming and testing per IEC and ANSI standards
- Proficiency in Relay Programming software, EPLAN, ECAD, E3, AutoCAD, and Solid Works is an advantage for this position, supporting accurate system configuration, electrical design, and documentation
- Strong leadership, troubleshooting, and fluent in English communication
