About the Team
As a technical interface for Japanese commercial vehicle OEMs, this role collaborates with ZF global development teams to drive application development of driveline products such as transmissions and e-mobility components. The engineer will lead requirement analysis, vehicle integration support, and cross-functional project coordination.
What you can look forward to as Software Application Engineer:

Act as technical window to Japanese commercial vehicle customers, aligning with ZF global R&D.

Lead application development and evaluation of driveline products.

Support integration of ZF products into customer vehicle systems (Engine Control, Main Computer, Brake systems, etc.).

Perform requirement analysis, specification consolidation, deliverables management, and validation tests.

Evaluate functional safety, diagnostics, and cybersecurity requirements.
-
Manage project timelines, vehicle testing plans, and execution.
-
Coordinate with internal/external stakeholders for technical discussions and issue resolution.

Provide technical presentations and support for new business acquisition.
Your Profile as Software Application Engineer:
-
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field, with 5+ years of development experience in the automotive industry.
-
Knowledge of automotive components, preferably Powertrain, and experience in development-related activities such as project support, application engineering, or vehicle calibration.
-
Software testing and CAN communication knowledge; familiarity with CAN tools (CANape, CANalyzer). Experience with DOORS or Matlab/C-Code is a plus.

Understanding of cybersecurity and functional safety standards, including UN‑R155/156, SUMS, and ISO 26262.

Strong communication, coordination, and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across functions and cultures.

Business-level proficiency in both English and Japanese (reading, writing, communication), with a strong willingness to further improve language and technical capabilities.

Proactive, self‑driven mindset with high adaptability to changing environments.

Ability to travel domestically and internationally and work effectively in global, diverse teams.
