💻 ROLE

The Commerce Strategy & Operations team drives business decisions across our entire marketplace ecosystem, including buyer experience, seller experience, trust & risk, fraud, logistics and payments.

As a MBA intern, you will:

  • Own a defined strategic initiative across pre or post purchase operations, partnering with Product, Engineering, and Operations to improve user experience and operational performance

  • Analyze operational and commerce data to surface insights, track performance, and identify opportunities to improve quality, speed, and scalability

  • Develop structured recommendations based on user behavior, operational workflows, and performance metrics

  • Design or refine processes, workflows, and tools that enable scalable marketplace operations

You will present your findings and recommendations to senior Commerce & Operations leaders at the end of the internship.

Team members in this role are required to be within commuting distance of our San Francisco, hub.

👋 YOU

People who do well at Whatnot tend to be comfortable figuring things out as they go, biased toward action, and genuinely curious about what they're building. They care more about outcomes than credit and stay close to the product and the people using it. You should have:

  • Experience working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments, with exposure to operations, strategy, or analytical problem-solving

  • Evaluate where AI can meaningfully improve operational speed, quality, or scalability, and incorporate AI-enabled solutions into strategic recommendations

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to work with data and translate findings into clear insights

  • Interest in commerce, marketplaces, or post-purchase operations, including user experience or Trust & Risk workflows

  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams, stay organized, and follow through on execution

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with comfort working across cross-functional teams

  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools; experience with SQL or analytics platforms (e.g., Looker, Sigma, Hex) is a plus

  • Availability for a Summer 2026 internship
