About the Team:
The Social Team at Tik Tok run the flagship handles for the company - @Tik Tok and our flagship country handles. Our handles represent the best of Tik Tok - whether that's a trend happening; a small business that's finding success through Tik Tok Shop; a Creator who is changing lives through their content; a community that found each other through Tik Tok; or a brand new product we're launching. When you look at our handles, you should get a great sense of what Tik Tok is like in that country.
The Japan Social Editor is a true Social Media expert, with significant experience running Social for large Japanese or Global brands. Equally versed in both strategy and creative, the Japan Social Editor knows what it means to bring a brand to life through content and community building. They understand the business challenge, and align their content to that challenge.
The Japan Social Editor will inspire the team to develop an unmistakable style through compelling publishing across Tik Tok's own social media channels. The Japan Social Editor is obsessed with culture, especially music, entertainment, sports and gaming, but truly understands how to craft culture into a brand story, understanding what works and what doesn't work for the brand.
The Japan Social Editor knows how to build cross functional relationships internally, and how to build strong partnerships externally with key brands, publishers, creators and talent. They have experience working with agencies to get the best creative work possible, and understand what it takes to build long term agency relationships. The Editor will have influence beyond Social, getting involved in Marketing, Comms, CSR, Product and beyond.
The Japan Social Editor knows how to integrate Social into Marketing, Comms and Product campaigns - ensuring that it's not a 60 second TV spot dumped into Social, but is instead a truly integrated, channel first campaign that has business impact.
The Japan Social Editor is responsible for leading Tik Tok's social presence across all main Social platforms via:
- Always-on editorial content that tells the story of what makes Tik Tok and our community great.
- Integration into Marketing campaigns and Key Partnerships, ensuring content works for our channels and can amplify key messages.
The Japan Social Editor is responsible for ensuring operational brilliance and being the gate keeper of a consistent and healthy activity on all social channels in their market:
- Strategic briefing for content, both evergreen and campaign.
- Creative feedback on assets and campaign ideas.
- Ownership and management of the content calendar.
- Community management, ensure consistent editorial line based on strategic objectives.
- Delivering content performance reports and learnings.
The Japan Social Editor is responsible for:
- Being the main point of contact for Brand Marketing, User Growth, Comms and Music to land integrated concepts and through line storytelling.

The Japan Social Editor is responsible for overseeing the relationship with the social agency:
- Ensure the creative agency is onboard with the strategic business challenges, and that all work meets the business and creative needs.
- Managing the relationship, ensure Tik Tok is perceived as a good partner, with clear briefs and regular QBRs.
- Manage the agency model for budget, ways of working and staffing.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Qualifications
- At least 5 years of working in Social - working directly on running and managing organic Social accounts/channels for either a large Japanese brand, or a global brand's presence in Japan.
- High professional fluency in Japanese as you will be managing our social pages & engaging with agencies in Japanese and medium working fluency in English to be able to communicate effectively with internal teams across regions.
- You should be familiar with Tik Tok personally, with a keen interest in the platform and our community.
- Your background can be either from working at a brand directly, or at a creative/social agency running Social.
- You don't need to be a content creator yourself. You don't need to have shooting or editing experience, but we are looking for someone who has experience giving creative direction and feedback to creators and agencies.
- Experience in Social measurement is helpful - putting together reports and using tools such as Brandwatch and Sprinklr.
