A Senior VAT Compliance Analyst prepares and files VAT returns, reconcile accounts, lead audits, and ensure compliance with local regulations. This role involves supporting business teams with tax guidance on transactions, implementing tax technology, and improving tax processes (AI/automatization).
About the role:
- Independently prepare, review, and submit VAT returns, SAF-T, EU Sales Lists (ESL), and other statistical reports (e.g., Intrastat) in various jurisdictions.
- Provide operational guidance to internal stakeholders (AP, Procurement, Legal, Finance) regarding VAT treatment for cross-border transactions and new business initiatives.
- Perform VAT account reconciliations, comparisons between SAP and e-invoicing platforms (e.g., SdI in Italy), manage VAT entries in ERP systems (e.g., SAP), and ensure compliance with SOX or internal controls.
- Act as the primary contact for external tax advisors and tax authorities, managing audits and tax reviews, collecting images of invoices, reports, etc.
- Identify opportunities to improve, automate, or standardize VAT compliance processes and contribute to tax technology implementation (e.g.AI ).
- In the event of any changes, such as a merger, closing of the registration or opening of a new VAT registration, Analyst prepares appropriate VAT declarations, SOPs (instructions to ensure the process is secured), performs tests in ERP systems, etc.
About you:
- 3+ years of experience in VAT compliance or consulting, ideally within an international environment.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or Economy.
- Deep understanding of EU/EMEA VAT regulations and VAT accounting principles.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (particularly SAP) and Excel.
- Fluent English (both written and spoken) is standard.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a dynamic environment.

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The base compensation range varies across locations. For Poland, the base compensation range for this role is 115,500 PLN - 214,500 PLN. Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs. This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance.
