Job Description

As part of the Customer Marketing Organization, the Senior Manager, AI Search & Discoverability will join the Performance Marketing organization to lead Thermo Fisher’s evolution in AI-driven, and generative search, ensuring our brands, products, and expertise are discoverable across both traditional search engines and emerging AI-powered experiences.

This role combines strategic leadership with operational oversight, shaping how Thermo Fisher appears across intelligent search surfaces. The ideal candidate brings deep technical search expertise, a strong understanding of generative and answer-engine ecosystems, and a passion for innovation at enterprise scale. This leader will collaborate closely with Product, Divisional Marketing, Digital Technology, Analytics, Content, and Media teams to drive visibility, accuracy, and long-term discoverability while future-proofing our search strategy.

What will you do?

  • Lead and develop a multi-disciplinary AI search organization, including AEO/GEO, shared services, and technical intelligent search teams.
  • Define and execute enterprise strategies across Thermo Fisher’s digital ecosystem, ensuring visibility across discovery platforms.
  • Translate evolving AI search, SERP, and LLM trends into scalable standards, governance, and frameworks.
  • Partner with Product, Divisional Digital, IT/DT, Analytics, and Channel teams to align discoverability priorities with business and demand generation objectives.
  • Oversee technical search health, including crawlability, rendering, schema/structure, and AI-specific markup.
  • Direct AI-ready content strategies, including content briefs, topic prioritization, and optimization.
  • Establish and oversee AI visibility monitoring, including presence in AI summaries, citations, misinformation intake, and LLM accuracy checks.
  • Own reporting frameworks and dashboards for AI visibility performance, communicating insights, risks, and opportunities to senior leadership.
  • Drive innovation through partnerships advancing automation, tooling, and AI-search measurement capabilities.
  • Serve as a senior subject-matter expert for AI-driven search and discoverability best practices.
  • Manage external vendors and partners supporting technical search, AI visibility, and optimization initiatives.

Education

  • Bachelor’s in marketing, data/IT, or related field; Master’s preferred

Experience

  • 10+ years of technical digital discoverability experience, with 4+ years leading multi-team or enterprise-scale initiatives.
  • Deep expertise in technical search, including schema/structured data, site migrations, performance, and AI-readiness.
  • Experience optimizing for AI-driven and generative search platforms, including answer engines and LLM-based discovery.
  • Proven ability to adapt strategies to algorithm changes, evolving SERP formats, and emerging AI search behaviors.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership experience within matrixed, global organizations.
  • Proficiency with enterprise digital tools (GSC, SEMrush, Screaming Frog, Looker Studio, Adobe, CMS platforms).
  • B2B or Life Sciences experience; familiarity with scientific or technical content strongly preferred.

  • Ability to work effectively with remote and global teams across time zones.
  • Strong stakeholder influence skills; able to communicate complex technical concepts to executive audiences.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, project management, and documentation skills.
  • Working proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Teams.
