Overview

This role is at Spirit Aero Systems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit’s Commercial Business Units (“Spirit Commercial”). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing’s three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial’s core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.

Responsibilities

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provides expertise in production engineering disciplines.
  • Applies principles and practices typically associated with quality engineering, industrial engineering, and manufacturing engineering functions and coordinates with other support disciplines or core functions as required.
  • Develops quality and cost-effective methods, standards, and systems for production by applying production engineering principles.
  • Leads and participates in long-range technical research on proposed projects. Provides guidance to less experienced manufacturing support staff.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 3-5+ years of experience (OR a Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of experience) in manufacturing, continuous improvement, and manufacturing support
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • High level of understanding of composites and manufacturing
  • Experience with Continuous improvement
  • Strong listening skills and a willingness to learn
  • High level understanding of composite fabrication and manufacturing
  • Ability to work cross-functionally
  • Basic computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, navigate through 3-D engineering models)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • SAP experience
  • Manufacturing/shop floor experience
  • Lean and Six Sigma experience
  • Understands RCCA process, can prepare a business case, process improvements
