INTEGRATION SPECIALIST - GROUND SUPPORT EQUIPMENT (FALCON)

SpaceX is currently seeking a talented individual for the Integration Specialist role on the Ground Support Equipment Engineering Team. This team member will be responsible for resolving non-conformances, refining manufacturing assembly procedures, and interfacing with engineering and technician teams. This position directly supports the GSE engineering team's goals, specifically delivering zero downtime on critical ground support equipment to enable Falcon launch teams to achieve record-breaking launch cadence.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support Stage 1, Stage 2, Fairing, and launch site payload operations, from Dockside to Launch, with a focus on vehicle interface tooling for structural and fluid connections

  • Perform continuing engineering and production support of ground support equipment to support a 99%+ uptime to support flight hardware integration activities

  • Support dispositions of non-conforming hardware on the production floor and drive root cause analysis & solution implementation while ensuring design integrity, product quality, and uptime.

  • Use hand calculations, finite element analyses (FEA), and computer-aided designs (CAD) to ensure all hardware meets or exceeds internal and customer requirements

  • Drive non-conformances into actionable items and system improvements, including improving standard rework and acceptance criteria

  • Monitor and participate in ground system build and test, hands-on in the field, alongside skilled technician teams

  • Generate process planning which targets reducing technician labor hours, and required engineering overhead, while also ensuring the process and work instructions adhere to the approved SpaceX build reliability standards

  • Work closely with the technician team to identify and resolve process and work instruction problems in the GSE shop as well as working to optimize the layout/flow of the shop floor

  • Interface and collaborate with engineers and highly skilled technicians to streamline GSE maintenance and eliminate unnecessary scope, downtime, and blockers

  • This team also supports every flight inspection, refurbishment operations for all the umbilicals for pad operations

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate

  • 3+ years of hands-on hardware experience performing fabrication, assembly and/or testing

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline

  • 2+ years of experience in a technical production environment

  • Excellent written and oral communication, especially translating technical concepts for non-technical audiences including written and visual instructions

  • Hands-on experience working with, troubleshooting, and/or designing complex fluid systems that involve pressure vessels, filters, pressure relief valves, manual valves, regulators, and gauges

  • Capable of solving complex manufacturing problems on schedule with little to no supervision as an individual or as a member of an integrated team

  • Experience with NX/Teamcenter designing parts and assemblies

  • Experience with CAD and FEA software packages (can be in a professional, academic, entrepreneurial, or hobby setting)

  • Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging environment

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to pass Vandenberg Space Force Base background check

  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends as required

  • Occasional travel may be required

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:
Integration Specialist/Level 1: $33.00 - $44.00/hour
Integration Specialist/Level 2: $39.50 - $52.75/hour
Integration Specialist/Level 3: $48.50 - $66.00/hour

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
