ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Runs a variety of daily to complex tests for Raw Material, Finish Goods and Intermediates that require, some judgment and interpretation of results within general guidelines maybe needed after well trained by QC manager or QC leader

Performs complex calculations on test results to determine if product is within proper boundaries; receives guidance on specialized or sensitive issues (after well trained by manager or leader)

Recommends general technical formula or material adjustments to the product based on test results and judgment; receives direction on issues when required and coordinates potential formula changes with corporate (after well trained by manager or leader)

Cleans, maintains and calibrates complex equipment and maintains a clean and safe working environment.

Interacts with production, maintenance, technology or other plant personnel to communicate test results, recommend corrective action, and provide guidance on quality control issues.

Responds to general customer questions and complaints regarding product quality, test results, and other information.

Reviews, completes, and enters a variety of forms, logs, and reports detailing test results based on operating procedures.

May prioritize and assign work to lower-level personnel and assist with training.

May perform work similar to a batchmaker or operator, which would require greater physical ability and working conditions.

Performs other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Two years of QC or production experience is required.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Above high school graduate or equivalent education and experience.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

• Performing basic formula calculations and equations;

• Performing general quality control tests;

• Utilizing quality control laboratory equipment;

• Understanding of basic production and general manufacturing processes;

• Determining formula or material adjustments within boundaries;

• Reading and interpreting quality control results within general guidelines;

• Deciding about quality batch issue and escalating the relevant info the other parities.

• Completing technical forms and documentation;

• PC skills; Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); and other applicable applications;

• Communicating with co-workers to provide and receive direction.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, chemicals, oils, and other conditions found in manufacturing and laboratory environments.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, typing, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

• Ensure all tests are completed and results meet all specifications before going to the next production process

• Enter all batch data into the electronic batch records system

• Generate appropriate paperwork as needed per customer specifications

• Gather and send customer samples as required

• Utilize appropriate computer systems to ensure effective testing of products

• Determine disposition of non-compliant finished goods

• Place non-conforming material on hold as needed

• Support the ISO Management Systems and Safety Systems.

• Maintain inventory of lab supplies

• Identify and communicate product issues to other departments as needed

• Create, maintain, and update standard operating procedures for Quality Department to meet ISO requirements

• Assist in training of other lab technicians as needed
