As a Functional Lead, you will partner with Product Management and technical teams to drive transformation initiatives in a discrete manufacturing environment with a primary focus on Engineered-to-Order (ETO) processes. This role requires deep functional and technical expertise in SAP SD and integrated platforms, combined with leadership in solution design, process standardization, and large-scale ERP implementations. You will help shape the transformation roadmap, ensure alignment with business objectives, and deliver scalable, efficient solutions leveraging SAP S/4HANA and integrations with third-party systems.

Experience with related manufacturing models such as Make-to-Order (MTO), Configure-to-Order (CTO), and Make-to-Stock (MTS) is a plus, but ETO expertise is critical and mandatory for this position.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as the functional lead providing technical and process expertise, with a strong emphasis on ETO workflows, driving solution and process standardization across SAP SD and integrated platforms.
  • Partner with Product Owners and Managers to define scope, confirm required customizations, and identify value drivers; advise on design decisions and ensure alignment with business objectives, particularly for complex ETO scenarios.
  • Collaborate with Solution Architects and technical teams to shape the Solution Roadmap and Architecture Runway, ensuring integration with Finance, Logistics, Project Systems (including ETO), Supply Chain, and third-party systems.
  • Lead and support Agile delivery teams through sprint planning, execution, and backlog management; ensure timely delivery of user stories and resolution of defects, with special attention to ETO-specific requirements.
  • Oversee development, testing, and end-to-end process validation; define test scope and ensure coverage for ETO-driven manufacturing scenarios, including custom engineering and project-based production.
  • Drive risk mitigation, clear impediments, and provide guidance to maintain alignment with program vision and standards.
  • Coordinate cross-functional activities including stakeholder engagement, change management, and execution of comprehensive cutover plans for business and technical readiness.
  • Promote innovation and problem-solving to minimize customizations while meeting user needs; foster collaboration and continuous improvement across distributed teams.
  • Actively participate in program ceremonies such as PI Planning and backlog grooming to maintain transparency and alignment.

Requirements / Qualifications Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 8 years as a technology/functional consultant in SAP SD (Sales and Distribution), Pricing & Contracts, and Logistics Execution.
  • Proven leadership in multiple complex ERP implementation projects and large-scale business transformation programs leveraging SAP technologies, including at least one full end-to-end SAP S/4HANA implementation in a discrete manufacturing environment.
  • Mandatory hands-on experience with Engineered-to-Order (ETO) processes in discrete manufacturing, including solution design and execution for highly customized, project-based production.
  • Experience with related manufacturing models such as Make-to-Order (MTO), Configure-to-Order (CTO), and Make-to-Stock (MTS) is a plus.

Technical Expertise

  • Strong knowledge of order management in Sales and Distribution and SAP project execution capabilities, including industry-leading practices and technologies for ETO environments.
  • Multi-platform experience with SAP SD/OTC capabilities and integrations with Finance, Logistics, Project System (PS)-including complex ETO-and Supply Chain Management.
  • Hands-on SAP S/4HANA experience; capable of designing, building, and implementing solutions for ETO scenarios.
  • Experience designing and developing integrations using SAP PI, SAP PO, SAP CPI, Mule Soft, and other middleware tools for third-party system connectivity.
  • Ability to provide configuration and analysis support for SAP Variant Configuration (VC) module, including classes, characteristics, tables, dependencies, profiles, and super BOMs/Routings for ETO products.
  • Strong knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle and SAP implementation methodologies.
  • Understanding of Agile principles and frameworks (Scrum and/or Kanban); SAFe experience highly desired.

Core Competencies

  • Strong planning, organization, and prioritization skills with ability to manage large work efforts and coordinate distributed teams.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to influence and drive process standardization.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking abilities in complex environments.
