Jobs
About the Role In this role, you will contribute to the development of high‑quality printed circuit board designs that enable reliable and efficient embedded electronic products.
You will collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to deliver PCB layouts that meet performance, manufacturability, compliance, and cost objectives.
You will be accountable for end‑to‑end PCB design activities and ensuring that deliverables align with Schneider Electric’s quality and operational‑excellence standards.
What Will You Do?
Partner with Hardware, Firmware, Mechanical, Industrialization, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to define PCB design requirements and ensure alignment with overall product architecture.
Execute PCB layout activities including component placement, routing, layer stack‑up definition, and constraint‑driven design using industry‑standard EDA tools.
Apply advanced constraint‑management techniques, including differential‑pair rules, high‑speed timing constraints, impedance‑controlled routing, and class‑based constraints for complex designs.
Perform trace‑impedance planning and verification, working with vendors on stack‑up proposals and impedance coupons to ensure proper SI/PI performance.
Execute high‑frequency routing techniques, including differential pairs, matched‑length buses, skew control, and timing‑driven routing for high‑speed digital interfaces.
Generate complete and accurate documentation packages, including fabrication files (Gerber/ODB++), assembly drawings, PCB specifications, and IPC‑aligned documentation.
Apply design rules and industry standards (IPC‑2221/2222, creepage/clearance requirements, EMC/EMI practices) to ensure electrical performance, safety, and regulatory compliance.
Collaborate with schematic owners to provide placement guidance, routing recommendations, and feedback on component selection from a layout, manufacturability, and lifecycle perspective.
Drive DFM, DFA, and DFT improvements through proactive engagement with Industrialization and external manufacturing partners.
Interface directly with PCB vendors to address stack‑up questions, material selection, impedance modeling, manufacturability concerns, and fabrication‑related inquiries.
Participate in formal design reviews, ensuring that all PCB‑related risks are identified, communicated, and mitigated.
Support prototype development and assist with debug activities, including analysis of layout‑related issues (signal integrity, power integrity, thermal concerns, or manufacturability problems).
Perform sustaining‑engineering tasks such as redesigning layouts for alternate components, addressing obsolescence, or supporting product‑enhancement initiatives.
Maintain design libraries, adhere to configuration‑management practices, and support continuous improvement across PCB design processes and tools.
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support project or departmental objectives.
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, or a related technical field; equivalent experience may be considered. 10+ years of experience in PCB design for embedded electronic systems, including multilayer boards and mixed‑signal or high‑speed circuits.
Strong knowledge of PCB layout principles, stack‑up design, routing constraints, and the end‑to‑end fabrication/assembly process.
Experience: with complex Constraint Manager environments (e.g., Cadence Allegro/OrCAD), including impedance rules, differential‑pair constraints, length‑matching, and high‑speed timing rules.
Hands‑on power‑supply layout experience (DC‑DC converters, high‑current paths, thermal and noise‑sensitive placement) is a strong plus.
Experience: with industry‑standard EDA tools (Altium, Cadence Allegro/OrCAD, Mentor Xpedition, or equivalent).
Familiarity with safety, EMC/EMI, and IPC standards relevant to PCB design.
Experience: working directly with PCB fabricators to resolve technical questions, review stack‑ups, and validate impedance requirements is preferred.
Skills & Attributes Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a cross‑functional environment.
Strong communication and documentation skills.
Detail‑oriented mindset with proven problem‑solving abilities.
Willingness to learn new technologies, tools, and processes.
Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining high quality and meeting schedule commitments.
